"Humans are weak. Even if they're tortured or crippled, most still fear death more than unending pain. Through it all they just scream, 'I want to live' over and over pitifully. Dreams, the future, possibilities... I shall put an end to these fleeting illusions. I shall feed and feed until nothing remains. Because the only perfect world is an empty world, with no one to sin, wage war, or hope."

After his possession at the hands of the Orochi, Yashagoro lost all inhibition and became a deceitful, genocidal murderer. As a Heroic Spirit summoned as anything other than a Berserker, he maintains his mental faculties and reason from before he took possession of the Kusanagi, despite the Orochi’s taint continuing to leave a very noticeable mark on him.
- Sadistic
- Rivers of blood… mountains of flesh! A glorious world of pain! Feeble humans, crushed like the insects they are!
Contrary to what a ninja should be like, Orochimaru is one of the biggest assholes you will ever meet in combat. He uses the snakes as a mean of torture. Of course, he did this whenever he deemed it appropriate of the situation.

- “You people walk your path believing that at the end something you desire is waiting for you. I walk it to confirm that there is nothing there.”
A character traits he developed due to the influence of the Orochi, whose views on life were based off its existence as a manifestation of the Amatsu-Mikaboshi. Orochimaru likes to act like a nihilistic philosopher who always lectures about how morality, hope, or the general goodness and value in life are all simply lies. Orochimaru firmly believes that the universe is cold, vast, and miserable, and, just like the Orochi did, believes that humanity is just a bunch of filthy sinful apes crawling around on an equally wretched and insignificant ball of mud where anyone and everyone can and should die and be devoured by worms in hell. Seeing everything, including himself, in a nihilistic and existentialist light, he makes the most out of killing and being killed.
- “You people walk your path believing that at the end something you desire is waiting for you. I walk it to confirm that there is nothing there.”
- Battle-crazy
- “There is no meaning in this world. I seek naught but blood and carnage.”
He enjoys battle, and is always seeking a good fight, if his lord allows him. In other words, he really enjoys the sight of his own blood and the opponent's blood.

Nodachi is the type of katana that Orochimaru sports if he has chosen not to use Kusanagi in a fight. There is nothing particularly special about it, although Orochimaru has a tendency to imbue it with poison.
Kusanagi
NOBLE PHANTASM: //
Kusanagi no Yamatō (草薙の閻魔刀) (Demon Blade of Serpent‘s Breath)
Title: Ame no Murakumo no Tsurugi (天叢雲剣) (Sword of the Gathering Clouds of Heaven)
Rank: A++
Type: Anti-Fortess
Range: 100 meters
Max Targets: 1-99
One of the three sacred treasures of Japan, the Kusanagi goes by many titles, although “Kusanagi” is its most well-known one. This title is also the most ambiguous, as it can mean either “Grass Cutter” or “Snake Sword” depending on the etymology used. Furthermore, it has been wielded by multiple heroes throughout its existence; Orochimaru’s iteration of the blade refers to it in a demonic fashion, as it was the medium through which the Yamata no Orochi possessed him. The 閻魔 (Enma) in 閻魔刀 (Enma Katana) can also refer to the judge of the afterlife, Yama, and 刀 (Katana) may also be read as とう (Tō). Thus, 閻魔刀 can technically be read as "Yamatō", the most traditional name of Japan, fitting considering the sword’s nature as one of Japan’s Imperial Regalia.
The sword was salvaged from one of the tails of the Yamata no Orochi, hence the sinister aura it possesses when wielded by Orochimaru. While the blade originally belonged to Susano’o, the legend of the name Kusanagi starts with Yamato Takeru, the 12th Emperor of Japan and another Heroic Spirit who can wield the weapon. While on a hunting trip, Yamato found himself in the middle of an assassination attempt involving him burning to death in a field fire that had been ordered by a rival lord. Yamato tried to cut the tip of the grass in order to stop the spread of the fire, but to his amazement Kusanagi could control the wind flow around him. Realizing the power’s potential, Yamato used the wind current to reverse the direction of the fire and make it even bigger, engulfing the rival lord and his assassins and putting out the fire when it became dangerous. In triumph, Yamato Takeru gave the sword the title of “Grass-Cutter” to commemorate his miraculous survival.
The sword is the manifestation of the Yamata no Orochi’s immense power, that of a Divine Beast, solidified into a weapon. Depending on its wielder (and thus the period of its usage), it can either be a Demonic Sword or a Holy Sword, and thus may contain the lingering spirit and malice of the Orochi or the divine blessing of the gods. The full extent of its abilities can only be unleashed by a Kami, but no matter who wields it, they are flooded with an influx of strength, increasing all Parameters by a single rank. Furthermore, the Kusanagi is able to cut and negate thaumaturgy of lower rank than itself. The actual ability of the Kusanagi allows its wielder to manipulate the wind with a swing, the method behind this being the user channeling their Prana into the blade and distorting the atmosphere around them at their will. Strong gusts, razor gales, localized twisters, and huge, highly pressurized walls of wind that can decimate enemies and buildings alike all become possibilities with this Noble Phantasm. This atmospheric distortion ability seems to be related more to Susano‘o’s influence rubbing off on the weapon than the Orochi in particular, although, granted the Orochi‘s ability to devour spiritual power, it might as well be another aspect the beast took on.

Kuchiyose: Hebi (口寄せの術: 蛇 ) (Spiritualism: Snakes)
Title: Kyodaija no Gundan (巨大蛇の軍団 ) (Army of Giant Serpents)
Rank: A+
Type: Anti-Army
Range: 100 meters
Max Targets: 1-99
The mystical Ninjutsu-based arts revolving around serpents, summoning them, and making use of their abilities. In short, snake magic. Orochimaru is an absolute master of this field in its every facet. It is a technique so engrained in his legend that it has become a Noble Phantasm for him. Using them to ensnare, attack, poison, defend; if you can imagine something being done using snakes, then Orochimaru can do it using snakes. Tons of them. Potentially thousands. Snakes of all shapes, sizes, appearances, intelligence, personalities, and capabilities are all summonable in large numbers, although giant snakes higher up on the hierarchy that possess greater power require more effort to summon and are thus significantly rarer as they get bigger and stronger.
Orochimaru can summon smaller, lesser snakes pretty much at will, making them slither out of his own person or the shadows around him as though they were hidden there all along. This allows for a seemingly countless torrent of snakes to be utilized at once. Even more bizarre, he is capable of summoning them through applying their concept onto nearby “serpentine” objects he sees, forming them from any inanimate material with the general shape of a snake, such as pipes, ropes, chains, vines, and even vague things like formations of items that appear to be slithering and cracks in the road. If these “metamorphosed” snakes are cut or otherwise destroyed they return to their base materials.
The utilization of venom is also a trait associated with this class of Ninjutsu, allowing the liberal use of poison application to weapons and substances, such as Orochimaru‘s own blood. Not only can poison be imbued in this way, but poison mist as breath, serums, and other similar aspects may be utilized. All summoned snakes can deliver the toxin through biting or other means. The venom’s nature is that of a poison that severs the brain signals controlling the neural impulses for movement; unlike regular paralysis, the pain receptors and nerve endings are unaffected by the weapon, so the victim can still feel pain, even in a paralyzed limb. Servants afflicted with Orochimaru and his snake’s poisons suffer a temporary rank reduction to Strength, Endurance, and Agility lasting at least till the end of the battle and oftentimes day unless healed using a Heroic Spirit’s ability. Poisoned Magi and other humans become deathly ill and will surely die within several hours if left untreated, though resistance varies from person to person. Needless to say, Orochimaru is immune and also resistant to poison based abilities in general.
A typical (E Rank) snake utilized by Orochimaru is about as big a threat for a Servant as regular snake is dangerous to the common man. As they grow greater in strength, however, they become completely incomparable in such a way. The size variation alone must be mentioned, as some snakes are small enough to hide in Orochimaru’s sleeves, while others can grow as large as buildings. While most snakes are very obedient and do what is instructed of them, the bigger ones, which often can only be summoned through a human sacrifice, have a chance of being less cooperative, in which case, them being of the Demoniac Beast rank, Orochimaru’s Riding skill is necessary to control them, sometimes extending this Noble Phantasm’s capabilities in order to directly fuse into the snake’s nervous system to manipulate them. It is also notable that the Noble Phantasm is not mythologically discriminatory and can even summon such Phantasmal Races as Lamias, Nagas, and Basilisks… for an appropriate cost, of course.
The snakes have their own template for ranking, and parameters vary from snake to snake:
STRENGTH: // E- to C+
ENDURANCE: // E- to C+
AGILITY: // E- to C+
MANA: // E- to C+
LUCK: // E- to C+
There is only one summonable snake in Orochimaru’s possession that has C+ in all stats as is theoretically possible given the template. This Youkai is capable of breathing Prana in the form of fire, much the same as a low-level Dragon. Orochimaru using his Riding skill on her is absolutely necessary, as otherwise she will simply go berserk.

Orochika (大蛇化) (Orochification)
Title: Maryōjin no Kakusei (魔龍神の覚醒) (Awakening of the Demon Dragon God)
Rank: EX
Type: Support
Range: Himself.
Max Targets: Himself.
A last-resort, final attack sort of Noble Phantasm. It represents the ultimate manifestation of the fragment of the Orochi’s power that still exists. By impaling himself with the Kusanagi and sealing it within his body, Orochimaru mutates into a simply enormous, monstrous serpent large enough to constrict and crush a building with ease. Essentially taking on the form of a single one of the Yamata no Orochi’s eight heads, Orochimarui’s ultimate form wields only a fraction of the original Divine Beast’s full power, but this alone is terrifying. All sense of strategic thought and planning is abandoned in the pursuit of absolute, overwhelming power.
Besides Luck, which is reduced by two Ranks due to huge, destructive beasts rarely being on the fortunate side of myths and legends, all Parameters increase in Rank by one and, as the Kusanagi is considered as being wielded at this time as well, its Parameter buff is likewise applied simultaneously. This leads to a gigantic, serpentine beast that is very strong, very durable, and shockingly agile. Orochimaru’s ultimate form is also capable of exhaling Prana just as a Dragon is. Because of this, all projectile based Ninpo can be utilized merely by Orochimaru blasting them from his mouth. Fire and poison were things the Yamata no Orochi could inherently exhale, and wind-based attacks were the domain of the Kusanagi, so breath attacks utilizing these three things are naturally available to the beast.
The ultimate form’s poison is on an entirely different level from Orochimaru’s regular venom, however. Although the effect is essentially the same, downgrading Strength, Endurance, Agility, and now Mana as well, the real difference is that the effects of the toxin cannot be removed by any methods other than drinking the blood of a woman who was born at the hour of the snake (9-11am) on the day of the snake in the year of the snake or by killing Orochimaru himself. Otherwise, the venom’s detrimental effects will continue indefinitely. Besides this vastly increased persistence, the poison seems to effect humans in mostly the same way.
The catch to using this incredible power is its insane Prana consumption, which is so indiscriminately draining that Prana is automatically siphoned from Orochimaru’s Master at the level of 100pr per turn. This massive Prana funneling can be offset by Orochimaru devouring regular people, however, consuming them entirely, body and soul to buy the great serpent another turn. Still, usage of the Noble Phantasm leaves both Master and Servant alike exhausted, more than enough incentive to reserve it for only those situations where it becomes an absolute necessity and Orochimaru is sure he can win.

CLASS ABILITIES: //
Riding:
C: The expertise to ride animals and vehicles. At this rank, a Servant may be shoehorned into riding a very specific classification of mounts. In the case of Orochimaru, it is snakes, in particular giant ones, which he can ride even at the level of Demoniac Beasts. However, he is incapable of riding anything else. Normally a skill only capable of being used by those of the Rider class.
Presence Concealment:
C: The capacity to hide one's presence as a Servant. It is a skill typically reserved for the Assassin class. At this rank, a Servant may conceal themselves completely from an opponent, suppress their Prana emissions, kill their presence, and generally become very difficult to detect. However, Orochimaru came from an era where ninja, while necessarily stealthy, still combated one another candidly, even out in the open, making liberal use of their superhuman athleticism and magical abilities in direct combat. Thus, Orochimaru was never a very specifically covert ninja in life, actually making use of skills that can rightfully be called contradictory to how ninja are understood in current times. He cannot even remotely prepare for combat actions whatsoever without negating this skill and revealing himself automatically. Because of this, while it makes an excellent espionage, escape, and ambush tool, it is far, far from a perfect assassination skill.
SKILLS: //
Ancient Ninjutsu:
A+++: The skill that, along with Kuchiyose: Hebi, permits Orochimaru access to the Caster class. In certain ways, could be called Expert of Many Specializations for a shinobi from the Age of the Gods. A ninja typically possesses skills in strategy, tactics of unconventional and guerrilla warfare, as well as mastery of the art of espionage. Beyond that, this system includes the eighteen martial skills (bugei juhappan) for the common bushi (warrior), and another group of eighteen unconventional types of martial skills (ninja juhakkei) for special warfare. These are skills still typically used by ninja closer to the modern age, however, another component of Ninjutsu from such an ancient era, in addition to these thirty-six martial skills, Ninpo (忍法; Ninja Arts), spiritual and mental arts of the ninja, allowing for the use of superhuman and magical powers, Orochimaru’s collection of which qualifies him further for the position of Caster. Ninpo essentially function as thaumaturgical spells, requiring special focusing of Orochimaru’s Ki (Prana), sometimes through the usage of hand signs. Among Ninpo, Orochimaru is particularly skilled with the Genjutsu (Illusionary Techniques) within the Magen (魔幻; Demonic Illusion) classification.
Eternal Arms Mastery:
C: Prevents degradation of fighting skills. In the case of Orochimaru, he has the rather strange privilege of being a possessor of abilities that are so intertwined and interrelated that they are barely altered for him between the four classes he can potentially become part of, Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker, if they are changed at all. This is the reason he possesses Riding and Presence Concealment, despite being a Caster when most other Servants would have no business having both.
Field of Detection:
A: Detects presence of others within a particular distance. Combined with Presence Concealment, this ability is optimal for reconnaissance. As Orochimaru is a ninja himself, it only makes sense that he would be able to detect and flush out other ninja, so this skill counters others with Presence Concealment.
Shapeshift:
A: Refers to both borrowing bodies and appearance change. Youkai snakes have been using shapeshifting magic comparable to Tanuki and Kitsune for just as long as they have - shapeshifting among the Mononoke of Japan has never been a particularly unique skill. Likewise, the Yamata no Orochi’s possession of Yashagoro reinforces this ability. At this rank, appearance is alterable in every way, right down to voice, age, and sex. In the case of Orochimaru, he can return to his true form merely by ripping the false visage off as though he were a snake shedding its skin. Combined with Presence Concealment and Field of Detection, this can allow Orochimaru to perform all manners of foul deceit and trickery, even successfully fooling almost anyone into believing he is someone else.
