Renard grumbled as he made his way down the bike trail. If he had only splurged a bit more on his lodging he could be inside right now, performing the ritual in the comfort of his own room, but no. He had to be miserly and go for the cheap room with paper-thin walls and little room to carry out the summoning. This may have been the wiser choice overall in a financial sense, but he couldn't help but feel that he'd would have be able to forgive himself being a fool in the name of convenience just that once. After a while he spied a pair of rocks set beside each other on the side of the trail and veered off towards them, then onto a makeshift path he made which led to the spot he cleared away for the ritual. After taking a moment to check around for potential intruders, he pulled back the now-filthy blanket that hid and protected the seal drawn in the dirt. With more than a little trepidation he ran through a checklist in his head of all the required materials and nodded to himself once he was satisfied. Taking a deep breath, Renard held his hand out, gripping a length of chain covered in odd markings tightly in his fist as he started into the incantation...
Renard gritted his teeth as his body was racked with pain, every last nerve seeming to be aflame as prana surged through him. It almost seemed too much to bear, but the reassuring weight and coolness of the chain in his outstretched hand kept him grounded and focused on the task at hand...
The air crackled with heat and energy, and the ground trembled as the runed circle in the dirt glowed brighter by the second. It almost seemed as though Renard's surroundings would erupt in flame at any second and consume him where he stood, but this did not dissuade him in the least. All that mattered to him now was the summoning. If he could at least do that, then the rest would fall into place...
With this, the summoning circle glowed brighter than ever, forcing Renard to shield his eyes as he released his grip on the chain. The chain then floated into the circle of its own accord, then grew in length and wound itself around an invisible figure. Renard peered through slitted eyes into the light, but was rewarded with only an even more blinding flash just before the light show ended. Even as he rubbed his eyes, Renard couldn't help but mentally pat himself on the back and congratulate himself on his own brilliance. The ritual was a bit flashier than he would have liked, but hopefully that was only a sign of things to come. With this in mind Renard looked up with eager eyes to see his new Servant...
