- Cultured
- There really isn't another way to put it; Lafayette likes to think of himself as a very sophisticated person. Polished, polite, more than a little refined, and certainly well-versed in various scholarly pursuits, it's quite easy to tell what sort of environment Lafayette grew up in, and to what standards he holds himself to. He is a gentleman, after all.
- Reputable
- On the surface, Lafayette is both reliable and trustworthy, and for all appearances does seem to be the dependable sort. Always following through on commitments, and aiding allies in times of need, he seems to adhere to a very strict code of chivalry. Of course, even if all that might just be a front, who’s to say otherwise? Underhanded dealings and less than savoury activities may be performed in secret; nobody needs to know what goes on under that spotless veneer.
- Traditional
- That’s not to say that Lafayette isn’t capable of thinking outside of the box; it’s just that most of the time he doesn’t need to. There’s no point in muddling your way through when a beaten path already exists, and nor is there a need to fly in the face conventionalities if they are suitable for the occasion. It stands to reason that long-established traditions that have likely been around for hundreds of years have to make some sort of sense, after all.
- Meticulous
- Lafayette is a very, very careful person. You could almost call him a perfectionist, if not for the fact that he vehemently denies pursuing such foolishness. Instead, he is almost ridiculously careful with all of his activities, insistent on getting even the smallest of details right, no matter how much time it might take him. He is just very uncomfortable with leaving loose-ends and unfinished business.
- Diplomatic
- Conflict is wasteful, and Lafayette prefers to not to engage in wasteful activities if at all possible. He prefers to use other methods to get what he wants, either through smooth-talking, negotiation, or just flat-out blackmail, and of course, he’s always going to take pains to look like the good guy too.
LIKES: // Manners, cleanliness, hard-workers,
DISLIKES: // Being surprised, commitments, criminals, wasted potential
STRENGTHS: //
Lafayette is about as blue blooded as they come. Make no mistake about that. He's confident in his abilities, proud, assertive, and just about as well regarded as one could be within Clock Tower. He has the ability to make himself heard at just the right moments, and sink straight back into the background the next, not to mention he's patient. He's willing to wait a few years for plans to come to fruition if that means guaranteeing success.
Not only that, but this is the guy who managed to teach himself fluent Italian in less than six months while juggling all his other daily commitments. He's just that good at managing his time, planning ahead, and keeping to schedule, disruptions aside. After all, self-control is yet another important part of being successful in life.
WEAKNESSES: //
Lafayette is unfamiliar with technology. He doesn’t avoid is, per say, he’s just never felt the need to get acquainted with it. It’s only recently that he’s gotten used to the idea that a mobile phone is a contraption that takes and answers calls, and that the internet isn’t actually a giant net, but that’s not all. That’s because Lafayette’s quite the traditionalist; his actions are predictable in that sense; nothing too outrageous, maybe just pushing a little unconventionality, meticulously crafted plans that are based on careful tactics rather than spur of the moment decisions. He’s fine if the plans work, but he’s going to be fairly lost when they don’t.
Furthermore, Lafayette fails at physical activities in general, not to mention close combat. Even if he believes his magic is more than enough to compensate for that it doesn’t change the fact that he’s going to get destroyed in any melee fights.

MY FAMILY LINE: //
Almost everybody who calls themselves a magus would have at least heard of the family called Nostredame, and most agree that despite some complications regarding their past, they are an exceedingly distinguished family, consistently playing an active part within the political dealings of Clock Tower, and never failing to live up to expectations, with this newest heir being no different. At worst, their detractors may think of them as a threat, and at best, they are an illustrious line of mages who have done much to further studies of magic.
The Nostredame family is just over 1000 years old, and was the line to sire Michel de Nostredame also known as Nostradamus, famed for his predictions and divinations of the future throughout the world, even centuries after his death. Although Michel managed to cause quite an uproar in the Association at the time, he was the first to bring the family out of relative obscurity into a powerful line both figuratively and literally.
Spanning just over 20 generations, the Nostredame family have always been actively trying to pursue lofty goals, delving into such fields as divination and even in several occasions attempting to dabble with sorcery, namely, the fourth magic, although never with any success Even if some may argue that Nostradamus himself may have possessed that knowledge at some point in time, that knowledge, if it ever existed, has long since been lost by the family.
Besides that, however, the Nostredames are conventional mages, which is part of the reason why they’re so highly ranked in Clock Tower. Their spells usually involve countering other magic, and self-defence, which suits Lafayette’s relatively pacifist personality.
On average, the Nostredame family is a strong bloodline, having around 30 magic circuits, with a PrC ranging from 15-20.
MY HISTORY: //
Lafayette was raised with high expectations, being the sole heir to the Nostredame family, and, for the most part, he rose to meet those expectations.
MY GOALS: //
It is the goal of every Magus to supersede the generation before it for the the sake of progress. Lafayette's desire, and his family's desire, is to reproduce the fourth magic, and obtain true sorcery. [/blockquote]
Lafayette’s mystic code is a small, innocuous, leather-bound book with a plain cover that works as a focal point for his prana.
RANK: // 2nd
ELEMENT: // Wind
EXPERTISE: //
Magecraft: Even if the Nostredame's specialty is specifically stated to be divination, it is a school of Thaumaturgy that is also known to be extremely fickle. As a result, Lafayette is very knowledgeable, if not a practitioner, of most schools of magecraft.
Book smart: Really. He knows a lot of things.
Manipulator: Lafayette's familiar enough with how people work to see through shallow facades, and decipher inner motivations. It's one of the reasons why he's managed to go so far in Clock Tower, and also one of the reasons he's so confident and self-assured in his plans. He’s had a lot of experience in dealing with people; he’s quite comfortable with pulling the strings from backstage.
Good at rhetoric: Public speaking is a skill. So is talking very fast, and making lots of sense. Lafayette can do all of them. Drop your guard and he might defeat you with words alone.
MAGIC CIRCUITS: // Being a powerful magus from an ancient family, Lafayette has 35 circuits with a PrC of 18, giving him a total of 630 prana.
SPELLS: //
Adigo Mora (Wind)
Rank: A
Cost: 10Pr/m^3 to activate, variable prana to keep up depending on circumstances
Range: As far as Lafayette's prana will allow.
Effect:
A five-line spell that is recited in Latin, it was actually created by Lafayette himself by modifying and combining some of his family's old spells while doing some research involving time-travel, and general manipulation of the time stream. Although the end result might've been a little removed from the original goal, it still manages to emulate at least some of what such a spell may do.
The effect is field which may be either anchored to one spot, or to Lafayette's own person, which is supposed temporarily halts the momentum & movement of every object within it's vicinity. Or at least, that's how it should work in theory. By kicking physics to the curb, applying an opposite force to everything that enters it, Lafayette is able to effectively halt the movement of any object that enters the field, and once the field drops, halted objects will once again regain their momentum.
The way this works with sentient beings is a little bit different. Although the field might attempt to bog down others entering the field with pressure, it doesn't work quite as well when there's active resistance. Depending on how strong Lafayette makes the field, people moving within it may feel like they’re wading through mud or water. It goes without saying that it’s sort of pointless to use on superstrength’d Servants.
Because of the field’s magical nature, E-ranked spells are automatically cancelled out the moment the touch the perimeter of the field, and D-rank spells usually fizz out before penetrating too far, while C-rank, and even B-rank spells would also have their effectiveness diminished by a large margin. Only A-ranked magic can penetrate the field with impunity.
