[The Round Faced Man]

FULL NAME: // The Round Faced Man

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: // Short, pudgy, with a round doughy face and flat features. He has brown hair, small brown eyes, and thin eyebrows. Laugh lines radiate from his eyes and around his mouth giving him a mirthful appearance. He constantly smiles in a friendly manner.

INFORMATION: // The Round Faced Man first appeared on Day 1 in a small diner in the Mariano del Rinascimento Scuola where he enjoyed a lovely cup of coffee and surreptitiously watched a rather awkward meeting between a new Master and a freshly summoned servant.

Later that very evening he interceded in a rater suspicious standoff between a grail war newcomer and a rogue grail monster that was menacing her. He introduced himself as a friend of her mothers in a thick russian accent.

On the second day of the war he set a clever trap that threw a street into chaos and inflicted some serious property damage on an art supplies warehouse.

That seems to be the limit of his involvement with the proceedings thus far.

SPECIAL ABILITIES: // The Round Faced Man is a magus who has demonstrated on at least two occasions a power set somehow related to Grail monsters. Since Grail monsters are a new addition to the proceedings of the Heaven's Feel this ability is highly odd. So far the only spells he has been seen using are:

Effect: A thin thread of Prana is threaded through the fabric of reality and then rapidly inflated. This scatterers the crystalline structure of the reality in an area about the size of the end of your thumb. The thread of prana is then deflated and tied off, hanging like a whisp of silk over a door latch. As soon as a source of prana of sufficient magnitude passes close enough the thread is absorbed or pushed away and the small section of reality it was holding together disintegrates, unleashing a small burst of grail energy. That energy creates a chain reaction that summons a number of grail creatures. The exact length of the reaction or number of grail creatures summoned is inconclusive since so far the only casting of this spell was interrupted by a rather large explosion. Any magus or servant approaching to within 3 yards is a powerful enough source to set off the trap.

Effect: An invisible but detectable thread of prana flows from the Round Faced Man and into a nearby grail creature. The grail creature then appears to panic and flee.

Okay. I've discussed this with the rest of the team, and what we have here is PC, or at least Plot Character material. It has its own account, which is something restricted to either PC's, or Church operatives. And at this level, with abilities like 'not pursued by Grail Monsters' and 'Grail Portal Trap', he is something closely tied to the Grail, as well as the main Plot.

This is not 'merely' PC level. This is something on a completely different and unprecedented scale. The manufacture of the War was attributed to three families, Tohsaka, Makiri, and Einzbern. You should know this already. Outside the three, nobody, and I mean nobody, fully understands the Grail enough to manufacture spells such as these.

In fact, the only people who actually know the level of corruption that the Grail has undergone are the Einzberns, and even then, they don't know what to do about it, or at the very least, incapable of doing anything about it as of yet.

Now I'll be lenient, because that's what I'm infamous for. Instead of stamping [red][REJECTED][/red] on this or something, I'll have you do something else. You are to send me a PM explaining how the RFM is capable of this, what he is, exactly, every last detail. I will take this PM to the Admin Board, and the Team will discuss it, and send you our response. In this way, the approval will go through hidden channels, if you wish to keep the truth as a surprise for plot purposes.

Once the approval concludes, then I will move this into an entirely new category of restricted character type.

Now, this is entirely up to you, but there are only two ways this can go about. If you choose to go with the approval, then there's still a chance to keep this guy around. And considering his influence in the story thus far, it would be inefficient and tiresome to just retcon his Grail-related actions out of existence. If you refuse this offer, then his activities involving monsters and the like will be retconned, and he will be reduced to a regular magus with no Grail-related abilities.

Soooo, the mods got back to me via the Chatbox and passed down the verdict: Fate Nuovo Guerra will be more fun without the Round Faced Man in it. Dang.

Anyways, that decision directly affects another of my characters, Matthew Walker. Since him and the RFM got the axe I guess secrecy and dramatic reveals are kinda moot, so here's the whole story.

Basically Matt is an Evil Twin Clone Brainwashed Artificial Person Manchurian Agent and the RFM is his handler. Can you believe the mods rejected me?

So. An ancient conspiracy of mages called The Cabal (because the Dark Clocktower was too cliche) was researching a way to harness Grail energies without the whole messy, uncontrollable Heaven's Feel process to deal with. They decided once again to bind them to mortal form and contracted a genetic scientist, the RFM, to make that happen. The RFM betrayed the Cabal, murdered it's leaders, and took control of the project.

The project produced a number of imperfect clones (Wrack and Ruin are two such clones) but at last was successful in producing a new way of harnessing Grail energy. Project Omega! Aka Matthew Walker. Altho it isn't a perfect analogy a good way to think of him is a cloned human somewhere between a Servant and a Grail Monster in the way he uses magic, grail energy in particular. But wait! One of the test subjects, Matt's "father", stole him and ran away to the American heartland where he raised the child in the ways of Truth, Justice, and Mom's apple pie!

So the plan was for there the be some big reveals about Matt's past, some Hannibal Lectures from the RFM about free will and destiny, then a big ass fight in which they both die. Oh well. What coulda been, right?

Anyways, back to our meta problem. The RFM was rejected, the Cabal was never formed, which means that Matt was never born/created.

The damage cosmic-retcon wise should be pretty light. Matt doesn't have a servant right now and Emma and Beddy can just get laser guided amnesia. He hasn't really interacted with anyone else yet so we should be good on that front. Just sweep it under the rug and call 'er good, the we can get back to playing the game.

After the fifth grail war ended in spectacular disaster a trio of mages threw up their hands and said "Fuck this". Those mages were Kenjii Tohsaka, Evelyn Makiri, and Holger von Einzbern. They snuck around and met in basements and formulated plots and plans using the secrecy that mages are so famous for and eventually started a hidden group called the Cabal, because the Dark Clocktower sounded too cliche and the Evil League of Evil was already taken.

The stated goal of the Cabal was, not to waste time trying to regain the lost Magics, but to instead put their energies into discovering new Magics or ways to profit therefrom. Each of the three founding mages headed the research in their family's particular area of expertise in the effort, not to recapture the grail, but to create something new entirely. However, their expertise was all in grail related magics so they brought in a genetic scientist in order to create the perfect vessel for their new creation. That was their main mistake.

The scientist, a round faced man with friendly mannerisms and a cheerful attitude, played the three against each with lies and manipulations in order to soak as much knowledge out of them as possible and divert it towards what was now his own pet project. He got as much out of them as possible before murdering them one by one. Using his own expertise in cloning combined with the Three's various magical researches he spearheaded the project to create The Omega Weapon.

The whole idea of Matt's plot is to have a search for a "biological weapon" of magical nature that is supposedly hidden somewhere in the city. The weapon is really Matt and the RFM's henchmen are failed clones and prototypes. Wrack has Harden and is super tough, Ruin has Strengthen and is super strong, Havoc has Quicken and is super fast, and Despair has Sharpen and has super senses. Matt has all four and is the Omega Weapon, the true goal of the Cabal. Since he was created using grail energies and cloning he and his prototypes are halfway between Servants and Grail Monsters. The RFM's whole research shtick was creating and controlling those creatures, which is why he can do Grail monster related shenanigans in the area of abundant Grail energy that Lucca provides.

Matt's dad was one of the test subjects but escaped from the Cabal with Matt. The RFM is using the Grail war as an excuse to lure him to Lucca and flush him out of hiding. He has deep seated mental conditioning, "A field of roses in August, daffodils all aflame." isn't a spell, it's a trigger phrase. It's ambiguous tho, it looks like a spell to Matt so people are all like "Oh, shit, he can cut people off from their prana! What a badass!"

Anyways, the planned goal of Matt's storyline is that he hunts the RFM down, the RFM plays some mind games with him and gives a couple of Hannibal Lectures, then Matt beats the RFM in a glorious climax and immediately dies. Overall effect on the storyline: zero. Matt and the RFM are both dead, and the actual war itself isn't really any different for it.
