- Easy-going
- Outside of battles and general killing each other and frezying business, Chulainn is actually quite a friendly sort once you get to meet him in person. His favorite hobby is fishing, an activity that doesn’t exactly requires much moving around. He’s actually a great conversation partner if you talk to him, though he has a tendency to blab his mouth before actually thinking about his response.
- Battle lust
- Meet Cú Chulainn in battle though, and you will find a completely different man. He’s the kind of people that enjoys battle more than you should as a rational people, though Chulainn will hardly considers those people as ‘rational’ anyway. For him, joy in battle is something normal. He will whip himself into a frenzy if need be, laughing all the way.
- Loyal
- Before he died, his loyalty is for Ulster and Ulster only. He’s willing to sacrifice his well-being and even his life for a chance at an Ulster-Connacht peace treaty, knowing full well that it will be his downfall. Now that he’s been summoned, his loyalty will first be to the master that summoned him. Even when said master was killed and the command seals were stolen by another, Chulainn will not forget his first master, and will still try to actively take revenge for his first master. But it’s not like that’s a common occurrence, right?
- A Man of his words
- Cú Chulainn never backs down from his words. When he was young, he slain the hound of a smith named Culann in self-defense. Realizing his mistake, he promised to the smith that he will guard his property as his ‘hound’ until a replacement comes, and he makes good of his promise. Later on his life, he accepted the proposal by the Connacht Queen Medb because of his own principle that he will do anything to benefit Ulster, despite said proposal being the harbinger of his own ruin.
LIKES: //
• Fishing
• Hunting
• Battles of any kinds
• Any kinds of meat
• Good Alcohol
• Strong Opponent
• Teasing overly serious people
DISLIKES: //
• Traitors
• Cowards
• Trickery
STRENGTHS: //
Cú Chulainn has little to no weakness in combat. An all-around warrior, he has natural talents that go a long way to bring victory in combat. His natural talents also allow him some measure of defense against ranged attacks, making him a good counter to Archers. Moreover, his spear is enchanted so that the wounds dealt with it is unhealable as long as the spear still exists, making it especially dangerous.
WEAKNESSES: //
He has no patience for trickery, and will often unable to spot the more subtle tricks of his opponents. When forced to undertake recon jobs or scouting, he will do it, but with no more concentration spent as chores. Although he can understand the virtue of strategy, he won’t do anything that delays him from the excitement of battles. He’s also honorable to a fault, accepting the proposal of telling his own Geis that Medb, Queen of Connacht proposed to him. She promised she won’t break the territory of Ulster beyond the necessary, but knowing full well that the proposal will bring him his ruin, Cú Chulainn accepted, thereby sealing his fate.

MY LEGEND: // The Hound of Ulster
MY HISTORY: //
The son of the God of Light Lugh and Deichtine, the sister of the King of Ulster, Conchobar, Cú Chulainn was prophesied since birth that he will become a great hero. His great deeds would give him everlasting fame, but his life would be a short, glorious one.
Born Setanta, Cú Chulainn gains his other name from the incident when he killed the hound of Culann the smith/merchant in an accident. Upon killing the hound and realized his mistake, Setanta swore upon Culann and said:
“If this dog has a child, I will raise it myself into a strong and loyal watchdog. Until then, I will continue to protect you.”
Upon hearing the pledge, the Druid Cathbad announces that his name henceforth will be Cú Chulainn – “Culann’s Hound”. It is the name that’s more associated for the fact that Setanta have the wisdom to notice the grieving Culann’s feelings of having lost his beloved hound rather than his feat of slaying the gigantic hound itself.
Upon growing into young adulthood, Cú Chulainn joins the Knights of the Red Branch that protected the king of Ulster. Cú Chulainn, having thought to be so handsome that other Ulstermen worries that their wives and daughters will be tempted by him, so they recommends the daughter of Forgall Monach, Emer. Forgall opposes Cú Chulainn’s wish at first. He proposed for Cú Chulainn to train with the warrior-woman Scáthach, hoping that the ordeal would be too much for him. However, Cú Chulainn accepts, and immediately sets out to Island of Skye, the Land of Shadows, where Scáthach’s Fort of Shadows stands.
After overcoming many barriers, Cú Chulainn arrived in the Land of Shadows. The master of the land, Scáthach the warrior-woman and witch took a liking of him and eventually trained him. Training under Scáthach, Cú Chulainn managed to learn and mastered many Magecraft and martial arts. In the Land of Shadows, Cú Chulainn spends much of his youth there, training with his sworn brother Ferdiad. For Cú Chulainn, who had scarce of an equal in battle before this, having a rival in Ferdiad is a boon. At the end of Cú Chulainn’s training he had learned all the martial arts that Scáthach can teach, and obtained the spear Gáe Bolg as a proof. Their training ended, both Cú Chulainn and Ferdiad praised each other and bid farewell to return at their respective homelands.
Upon returning from his training, Cú Chulainn became known as a heroic and courageous warrior. He took down enemies without mercy, but prized loyalty and possessed the nobility to never violate the vows he once exchanged.
Among the Celtic warriors, there was a custom of each vowing a certain commandment called ‘Geis’ or pledge. It is said that a curse would befall the warrior that violate their pledges. In accordance to his second name, Cú Chulainn had a Geis that states he shall “never eat dog for life”. This particular Geis, and all other minor Geis that Cú Chulainn had would later become his downfall.
To invade Ulster, the Connacht Queen Medb tricked all of the other warriors of Ulster to accept a Geis that made them asleep for a year. Cú Chulainn, being the only one that’s unaffected by the Geis, had to hold back the Connacht army by himself. Medb mocked the warrior, and said…
“What can a single warrior possibly do?”
Overconfident and triumphant, Medb marched her large army of Connacht into Ulster. However, Cú Chulainn alone defended the path where the large army had to go through and managed to repel them back. Undaunted, Medb again on countless occasions tried to invade Ulster, but Cú Chulainn’s defenses were like a fortress, undaunted and impenetrable. Medb had to defeat Ulster in that one year no matter what; it’s just too great of an opportunity to pass. Growing more desperate and careless, Cú Chulainn managed to capture Medb, who attacked Cú Chulainn directly with her chariot. In the end though, Cú Chulainn released Medb by saying that “There’s no way that I can kill a woman.”
Of course, this only further serves to incense Medb more.
Resolving to beat Cú Chulainn by weakening him by violating a Geis, Medb begin to conspire to found out about Cú Chulainn’s Geis. After the year passed, Medb proposes a truce between Ulster and Connacht in one condition; Cú Chulainn told her about his Geis.
Feeling conflicted, Cú Chulainn eventually agrees to the proposal, knowing full well about the risk involved. Though he was forbidden about eating dog meat, there was a powerful general taboo in Ireland against refusing hospitality. So when a hag offers him hospitality by offering him a meal of dog meat, he had no choice but to break his Geis. This, among many other Geis he broke because of Medb’s machinations, weakens him when Medb broke her promise and tried to invade Ulster again.
Despite without divine protection, Cú Chulainn still managed to fight with his fellow Ulstermen in battle. However, Connacht send their own champion, Chulainn’s sworn brother Ferdiad, to meet Cú Chulainn in single combat. Because of the curse of the Geis, Chulainn’s battle prowess weakened, and he was forced in a corner before his charioteer floats the Gáe Bolg to him. Chulainn activates the curse of Gáe Bolg, impaling Ferdiad in his heart, killing him instantly. Distraught, Chulainn cradled his sworn-brother’s body and cried.
That’s when an enchanted spear pierced his backside.
The wound proved to be fatal, but the proud Cú Chulainn refused to perish or collapse, so he tied his body to a pillar and continued to fight until the end of his life.
That was the rapids of the four branches (Ath nGabla)
Afterwards, this Rune was made into proof of determination by the Knights of the Red Branch.
MY GOALS: // to battle a strong foe, and probably enjoys a second life.

Gáe Bolg:
The cursed barbed javelin made from the bones of the sea monster Coinchenn and synthesized by Scáthach herself. Cú Chulainn received the javelin from his martial arts teacher Scáthach and used it as his personal weapon ever since. Because he’s summoned as a Berserker, Cú Chulainn did not have access to the unique techniques/functions that his teacher taught him while under the effect of Mad Enhancement. However, he still has access to the enchantment that makes the spear a deadly weapon for direct combat, the fact that wounds caused by Gáe Bolg do not heal while the spear remains materialized in this world.
NOBLE PHANTASM: //
Gáe Bolg – The Spear of Impaling Barbed Death
Type: Anti-Unit
Rank: B
Range: 2-4
Maximum Number of Targets: 1
This single person attack, utilizing the curse put on the javelin by Scáthach, is a fatal blow that always pierces the opponent’s heart. Once the Gáe Bolg's name has been called, the curse spear reverses the nature of causality to make it so that the cause of the ‘lance being thrust’ comes from the effect of the ‘opponent’s heart being pierced’ by it. The actual action of the thrust is merely a formality, as the lance has already pierced the opponent’s heart before the attack has even started. Once the heart have been pierced, either by a normal thrust or this ability, it is nearly impossible to heal with normal means unless Gáe Bolg's destroyed or the owner (in this case, Cú Chulainn) is killed. The attack delivers damage equals to the opponent’s own health limit and plus the damage from the spear itself, so the wound will be fatal no matter what the opponent once they are struck. The attack costs very little prana, allowing it to be used up to 7 times before Cú Chulainn have to obtain more prana from his master.
It is impossible to dodge the thrust of the lance, no matter how agile, well guarded, or far away from the lance the opponent is standing. Even having EX Agility would be useless, so the only benefit would be to allow the opponent to back out of the attack’s range before it’s initiated. The lance can move at impossible angles, signified by turning into a red beam of light that always manages to reach its target. The action looks completely normal to onlookers, as if it were already piercing the heart, because rather than truly changing its course, it’s simply an action meant to prove the fact that the heart was pierced. No amount of 'outside' armor can block this attack, as evidenced by Cú Chulainn's duel with Ferdiad.
The only way to effectively defend against the attack is to have a high enough degree of luck to be able to alter fate, which would be heightened by also having a good reflexive instinct, auto-resurrection ability, or to have a shield, such as Rho Aias, which has the capability to defend against the lance by having a higher prana output in order to make it impossible for the lance to have struck in the first place. In such case, the opponent’s fate will be changed, so that even if they were hit by the lance, the world will correct the contradiction by removing the wound.
This Noble Phantasm will be sealed when using Mad Enhancement or Riastrad. In both cases, Cú Chulainn will be too maddened or too distorted in his speech to properly say the Noble Phantasm’s name, in each respective order.
Gáe Bolg – The Spear of Striking Death Flight
Type: Anti-Army
Rank: B+
Range: 5-40
Maximum Number of Targets: 50 people
This technique, which is the true use of Gáe Bolg, utilizes the full potential of its curse, converting all of Cú Chulainn's prana into energy and releasing the accumulated power after the spear is hurled, detonating on impact with enough power to blow away a multitude of enemies. Rather than dispatching a single foe with absolute accuracy by striking their heart, its focus is always hitting the specified area in an attempt to defeat large groups of enemies by causing massive destruction. Berserker prepares to use this ability by backing about 100 meters away from his opponent, taking a crouching position on all fours, and dashing about 50 meters before jumping into the air to unleash it.
This Noble Phantasm can't be used when Cú Chulainn is under the effect of Mad Enhancement. He will be too maddened to properly set up the technique.
Ríastrad – Monstrous Spasms of the Hound
Type: Support/Passive
Rank: B+
Range: Self
Maximum Number of Targets: Self
The terrifying battle frenzy that Cú Chulainn was famed for, it’s sometimes called a ‘warp spasm’ because the frenzy twisted his physical appearance. Ríastrad is an enhancement to the already formidable effect of Mad Enhancement, making Cú Chulainn even more of a monster in combat. Once Mad Enhancement is activated, he becomes an unrecognizable monster worthy of his legend.
The resulting monster after Ríastrad is activated is a sight to behold. Practically little trace of the old Cú Chulainn is recognizable. The thing that stands before his enemies is a monstrous, hideous, shapeless mass. As a brief description, ‘The Táin’ gave us the following: “…His body made a furious twist inside his skin, so that his feet and shins switched to the rear and his heels and calves switched to the front…The hair of his head twisted like the tange of a red thorn bush stuck in a gap; if a royal apple with all its kingly fruit were shaken above him, scarce an apple would reach the ground but each would be spiked on a bristle of his hair as it stood up on his scalp with rage.”
In effect, the Warp Spasm increase his STR by a + modifier. Also, because of his terrifying appearance, all opponents of Cú Chulainn suffer a one rank down on their STR and AGI because of their reluctance to strike Cú Chulainn. This STR effect can be negated by a Bravery rank of B, and Bravery rank of A will negate the negative effect entirely, but even then the appearance of Cú Chulainn will still unnerve the other combatant.
The effect of Ríastrad lasts as long as Mad Enhancement is active. Cú Chulainn will act as his namesake suggest during this time in or outside combat, a hound.
CLASS ABILITIES: //
Mad Enhancement: B
Raises basic parameters in exchange of hindering mental capacities. In some cases, also seals away Personal Skills. Boost up all parameters except Luck and Mana, but in exchange one can no longer think and speak properly. However, with Ríastrad, he can be compared to a Berserker with an A-rank in this skill in terms of prana drain.
Magic Resistance: D
Protection against magical effects; it’s different from the resistance effect that merely rejects prana, this ability cancels the spells altogether. Important to note that the term "verse" seen below refers to a set of three lines and thus, a chant of two verses is equivalent to a Six-Line incantation. At this skill level, cancel Single-Action spells, Magic Resistance of the same degree of an amulet that rejects magical energy. This skill will be reduced to E rank with Mad Enhancement active.
SKILLS: //
Battle Continuation: C
Strength of vitality for predicaments; It’s the ability to remain alive, withdraw from combat, and reach allied territory alive after being defeated. At this rank, it’s possible to fight even with deadly injuries and can remain alive for a medium amount of time. The user is also capable of ignoring all penalties that damage might cause while still suffering in the end through amassed battle damage.
Protection from Arrows: B (C rank in Mad Enhancement)
Increased defense against ranged attacks by predicting the projectile trajectory through exceptional means such as hearing the sound of air being cut or sensing the killing intent of the enemy. An inborn ability of Cú Chulainn, as long as the shooter is within his line of sight, he can track down range weapons with his eyes and defend against them. The effect doesn’t apply for attacks made from super long-range or with great area-of-effect. Reduced when Mad Enhancement is active, but not with Ríastrad.
Divinity: B
Son of Lugh the All-Crafted, Cú Chulainn’s parentage is ambiguous, because his mother Deichtine was unmarried at that time. Her pregnancy, subsequent foster-parentage, and Deichtine’s hesitancy to talk about his true parent further obscured Cú Chulainn’s true parentage. Nevertheless, some still recognized him as the son of Lugh, he just doesn’t like to talk about it.
Rune Magic: B
Knowledge of a type of magecraft originated from northern Europe. At this skill level, one is capable of using the 18 original runes. This skill is disabled when Ríastrad and Mad Enhancement is active.
