- Craves Information
- Thankfully her talents lend herself to this, but Mia always has to know what is going on or she gets unnerved, annoyed, or even angry. Only telling her part of the story will just make her angry, and likely bug you with one of her water cameras. Wait, she would probably do that even if you told her the whole truth. She just is really, really curious for information.
- Talkative
- Unless she is currently concentrating on something, she really does not like quietness. Obviously this won’t threaten tactical situations but it is a trait of hers. She doesn’t like silences in normal life, or silences from others.
- A Little Paranoid
- She doesn’t really accept normal solutions for things. While this does have the added benefit of making her investigate every situation carefully, and is near unable to be taken by surprise, she is worried about everything. A pencil falls off a desk? Must have been an accidentally loosed gust of air from a wind magus. While she does not speak of these, to try and avoid looking like a fool, nonetheless it is visible in her actions.
- Resilient
- Mia never gives up on a situation, no matter how far gone. And she can easily recover from disadvantages, and change a situation to her liking. This also makes her slightly stubborn, especially when talking with equals.
LIKES: // Hot water, tea, information, sweets.
DISLIKES: // Snow, coffee, people who don’t tell her complete things, people who are too silent, and people who talk when she tries to concentrate.
STRENGTHS: //
Detection. She is very difficult to surprise.
Fighting people with mechanical weapons/electronics.
Remaining undetected
WEAKNESSES: //
Her physical combat skill is very low, as even an average knifefighter will surpass her skill in it.
Can’t blow things apart like other magi, her attacks are more delicate and direct, doing very little damage if they don’t hit a vital point.

MY FAMILY LINE: // The Hedera line is approximately 620 years old, with Mia being the twelfth successor. The family tends to specialize in water, however for some reason tends to be unable to form ice. This rather decreases the offensive capabilities of the magic this line produces, but it is balanced by the fact that they can manipulate incredibly tiny amounts of water with greater skill than the average line.
There is no specific sorcery trait for this line, only things they are good at, unless not being able to create ice from water counts as a sorcery trait.
They are based in Scandinavia, primarily Denmark.
MY HISTORY: //
Mia is the only child of the Hedera family, specialists in manipulation of water. Her childhood was fairly traditional, until she was passed the crest by her aging father when she was 12, and she entered the clock tower at 14.
There she was quickly recognized for her surveillance skills, and given the opportunity to join the enforcers. Initially she declined it, as it carried a certain stigma amongst magi. Few enjoyed the presence of the enforcers, and they were often looked down upon.
She wanted to bring honour to her name, not drag it into the dust behind her. As they were above 600 years old as a family, they had begun to garner respect from the higher ups, as a stable, solid family of Magi.
All that changed when she was 18. Her father succumbed to some strange illness that had an incredibly rapid progression. Neither magi nor traditional doctors had been able to do anything about it. He went from healthy, vigorous even, to dead in a single month.
And no one knew why.
Mia was absolutely convinced it was poison, and inspected the house thoroughly for any clues… and found nothing.
Neither did any police officers, or even an enforcer who had apparently known her father. There was nothing, and yet Mia was still convinced, certain, that it had to be some sort of poison. The harder she looked the less that she found.
There was nothing. There had to be something. Had to be.
But there wasn’t. No clues, no evidence of tampering with anything, no magecraft, no boundary field failure… except one tiny detail. She was sure the dead man was not her father. Oh, everything checked out right, blood, dental records, and even DNA.
Yet it just wasn’t him. There was no resonance… no … she could just feel it wasn’t him. When she operated on that theory… so much changed.
She had never seen that enforcer before. She had never seen the two who had accompanied the enforcer, had analyzed and scrutinized her father’s body.
They knew what she knew. Probably even more. So she spoke specifically to the enforcer. Of course, he told her nothing. That meant she had to get a little more hands on, so she began spying on them with tiny shards of her Mystic Code as they searched around his house for another day.
One day they just left, disappearing in the middle of the night, but she was following them. Stalking them, carefully, avoiding them at every turn. She tended to follow and observe the more assistant based ones, as they seemed less careful than the slender man who led them.
Finally they ended up in Italy, Lucca to be precise. And it was there, she finally learned what her father had done. Somehow, he had ended up with a sealing designation, and tried to escape, not wanting to give up his research. She could easily see why, a sealing designation was as good as death for a magus.
Of course that should have been obvious to her, there was generally only one reason enforcers were after you. Well, possibly two, but no magus would attempt to reveal the secret to the world, would they?
In the canals beneath the city, the first of the enforcers died, as Mia watched. A small shard of glass, barely visible to the naked eye, was on the tip of the man’s collar, and all she saw from that feed was a sudden jet of water, and then the host of her camera fell down, staining the water beneath with blood.
That girl had not been careful enough. The other two realized they were in serious danger, they couldn’t even see their opponent, and one had already fallen from a spell Mia knew very well. It was Håndarbejde Skud, or Piercing Breath. A simple burst of water… trapped, that meant he was within a short distance of the enforcers!
She took off in a flash, not really sure what she was going to do, still remotely viewing the mirror shards as she ran, awkwardly holding the compact mirror. Her father just killed a man… and another. The enforcers should not have stepped in his territory. The last one was difficult, but somehow her father was keeping up with him, and blocking steel with his bare hands. Strengthened steel. She wasn’t sure what was happening as she burst through the detection field that her father had set up.
What was she even going to do here? Why was she bothering? Although she had to know why he hadn’t even told her, had to know what he had done.
She was in the canals now, and she watched with her own two eyes as the two magi duelled with ferocity she hadn’t seen before. As they fought she decided she had to protect her father… so she levelled her hand and carefully waited for an opportune moment.
And she saw one and fired, taking the enforcer in the back of the head, killing him instantly. Her father was surprised... that was an odd look for him to have though.
His response was to fire a lance of water straight through her shoulder. Well he aimed for her heart, but she managed to see the tightening of his eyes at the last second. He wasn’t speaking to cast the spell?
Blood poured out her wound as she concentrated. Why did he shoot at her? She had to ask, and so she did. His response was one of madness.
“Never! You have come for me too!”
Was he insane? She called out to him, told him her name. She was rewarded with another lance of water to the side, grazing her flesh. Why was he doing this?
She had to do something, or he was going to kill her. His feet splashed as he walked towards her… Wait why was he walking towards her? It was giving up his advantage… or!
Her feet ached with the energy she put into them as she burst around the corner… and received another strike to the chest from a water lance. She collapsed onto one of the dead enforcers, knife lying beside him. Her uninjured hand crept towards the knife as her father approached her.
He opened his arms, and began to say her name… but she tossed the knife, and by some luck it struck him blade first in the throat.
Killed that easily? And she never learned why. His body fell on top of hers, as her eyes closed, suffering from massive blood loss.
Other enforcers showed up some time later, and rescued her, saved her life. Once again she tried to ask them what her father had done, what had happened to him, and they got all tight lipped around it.
So she finally took up the offer of being an enforcer, her family name had become mud anyways. There wasn’t much left and she had to find out what happened. That was her only point.
Except they never told her. She served faithfully for 7 years, picking up knife fighting and throwing especially, but they never told her. They never let her access the records.
She had to know why!
Then, one day, she overheard enforcers either being dispatched, or leaving for their own accord to Lucca. What interested them there was not something she knew so she did what she was best at: gathering information. From various hearsay and actual reports, she discovered that there was going to be a fight for Akasha, a fight that once consumed Fuyuki city.
… Perhaps if she obtained that they would let her know. Or she could make them let her know. Or she could do a thousand other things with it.
MY GOALS: // To find out what actually happened with her father… the fact that she never knew and had to kill him was never solved, and no one ever told her why.

8 Balanced Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knived - Throwing knives, balanced for one and a half rotations a pace. She is completely accurate at up to thirty paces, and can hit a target fairly often at up to fifty. These can also be used as a normal knife as well, however she is not quite as skilled at fighting with them as throwing them. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairbairn-Sykes_Fighting_Knife These are belted 4 across underneath her outer clothing. They are not strengthened, instead only high tempered steel.
Lightweight Kevlar Vest: This only protects from low grade ammunition, but is very light and easily worn under clothing. Anything more than a handgun is going to pierce this.
Compact Mirror Mystic Code, Shattered Eyes: A compact mirror with ten tiny chips missing from the edges. The remnant of the mirror is near indistructible to modern weaponry (Though the case isn't) and is the actual mystic code. It allows one to form a connection with one of the ten missing pieces, and have them form a lense for the user of this to view. More details in the spell list.
RANK: // 4th
ELEMENT: // Water
EXPERTISE: //
Surveillance: A master of this skill, and her complete expertise. She specializes in tracking and observing an opponent, and if for some reason she can’t take them out by herself, sending information back to other enforcers. She is mostly famed for this, careful observance and information allows her relatively weak offensive spells a simple kill or capture of an opponent.
Knife Throwing/ Fighting: Guns tend to be clunky and Mia never really liked them. So instead she trained with knives and knife throwing. Her skill is incredible with throwing knives, but her knife fighting skill itself is only average for someone who has trained in it.
Stealth: A necessary accompaniment to surveillance, Mia is discrete, and leaves no evidence behind of her presence. Almost a required skill for an enforcer, Mia has raised it to an art form. Once she leaves a place, there is no evidence she was ever there. As well, since her prana tends to be spread out when using spells, they are also very difficult to detect.
MAGIC CIRCUITS: // 26 circuits at 5 prana for 130 total.
SPELLS: //
Mystic Code: Shattered Eyes (Mystic Code, Water)
Rank: Mystic Code
Cost: 2 to place and allow recieving from a single shard of the mirror.
Range: N/A Connects to the Mirror Shard from the Mirror itself
Effect: Basically one of the ten shards is placed surreptitiously into a the fabric of a target's clothing, or a wall, or anything, and activated with a small touch of prana. Then that shard can now be remotely viewed by the actual compact mirror. An almost undetectable flow of prana transmits the information, so a magus will not find it, unless they are actively searching for it.
When not transmitting the view to the mirror there is no connection, and unless the sliver is touched it only seems like a sliver of glass.
The mirror can only remotely view up to two at once, however it can have 4 that are able to be viewed. If Mia wants to make a new shard viewable, she has to manually deactivate it before activating a new one. Or wait three days for the spell to naturally fade.
These shards are incredibly sturdy for the fact that they are made out of glass, and are irreplacable for the purposes of the war, as it takes around a month of work to deattach a shard from the mirror.
Obviously these cannot record information, take pictures, or anything like that. She can only see through them.
Piercing Breath (Water)
Rank: D
Cost: 10
Range: 10m (100m if trapped.)
Effect: Very similar to freezing lance, except the prana behind freezing it is converted to piercing power. Able to slice through light armour, it is a high pressure jet of water that exists for a single instant, piercing through the target, then simply becoming water again. It has slightly less range than freezing lance however.
An additional benefit of this is that a pool can be ‘prepared’ with this spell to fire it on command from Mia. She can be up to a hundred meters away for this to remain in effect. It is not a trap, and instead must be manually fired.
Single action, one liner to prepare a pool. Tends to be used with a snap.
Water Screen (Water)
Rank: C
Cost: For every 10 meters Radius, 3 prana.
Range: Can cover a circle of up to 100meters radius
Effect: Basically this is an easily set up temporary boundary field. By creating a small screen of water around a location, each of these microscopic drops is charged with an infinitesimally small amount of prana, that blink out on passage of the barrier by anyone who has magic circuits, or is made of prana, such as a familiar or a servant.
This lasts around 3 hours.
Because Mia ‘feels’ each bit of her prana she can tell when and where it is disrupted. However there are a few weaknesses to this. 1) It only rises around a meter and a half off the ground, and is only a tiny barrier around the circumference, so flying in will not be detected. 2) It is not mobile, thus must be cast at each location. 3) Upon detection of a magus, if they are paying very close attention they will notice they have been detected. Basically if the magus is searching for a field/trying to actively sense prana usage they will sense this once they pass through it.
Basically used to secure a temporary location. Five lines.
Short-Circuit (Water)
Rank: C
Cost: 5 prana per 10 meters radius
Range: 80 meters radius maximum
Effect: This is the pretend bounded field for assaulting another magus’ base. It operates under the principle of removing any possible advantage for the opponent. Starting 1 meter away from Mia, water condenses around electronic circuits and parts, as well as mechanical gears, trigger switches and short circuiting electronics. It also puts out any natural fires in the area. Magic fires are not effected.
It even wets the powder in modern bullets, making them unreliable at best to fire.
Electronics damaged in this way are typically unrestorable, but other objects could easily be repaired. There is near no way to shield electronics from this spell.
To put this spell simply, it puts dew where do should not be from the moisture in the air. Like an expanded lifesblood it wets gunpowder, disables lights, and messes up electrical circuits and wiring as well as putting out small fires, like a candle. The amount of water it produces is actually quite small overall.
This is a five liner, but Mia must remain concentrating for a short while to allow this to have an effect at longer ranges. For maximum range she would have to remain still and focused for an additional minute.
Eye Reinforcement (Water, Strengthening.)
Rank: C
Cost: 7
Range: Self
Effect:Reinforcing ones eyesight to see from extremely far away with clear details. The maximum range her vision has is now closer to 650m, or just a little further. The effect lasts 10 minutes. She also gains night-vision upon activation of this spell until the effect wears off.
This is done by Mia with alterations in the liquid parts of her eye, allowing her better light reception in her eyes, rather than the muscles themselves.
As she developed this herself it is standard length. Is used for manual surveillance.
