Day 2; 22:00
"Haa... Haa... get to the theatre, it's nice, haaaah? What the fuck is nice!? Ben you idiot!" Her pulse raced, while she was wasting breath on a complain. He had been very eager to join her on this trip to Lucca, before he caught the flu and was very envious of 'little Aya'.
Who was envious now? If he just knew about this hell hole! First all the trouble to get into the plane and then into the country. They seriously had thought that her documents and ID were fake. S'cuse me? Some people can look a bit younger. She had felt like a criminal, despite being the exact opposite. Always the upright citizen. She was the kind who would probably even pay for a gratis newspaper....
Back then, Aya only wished to get out of that place and have a nice word with that freak's boss, but now this had changed. "Why did I not stay...?" Everything was better than this! She had already been in bad situations, tight spots, but this time was really topping everything and she wondered if her heart would not give out any moment.
Now I know what all my training was for... She had to thank her father and all the superiors for their 'doting' nurturing of her body's muscles.
Now she needed every single of them to make a run for it. Those muscles were more than just to create an ass as an ogle item for some colleagues. She hated those guys, but she would right now prefer some human eyes on it than those creatures who wanted to literally take a bite. At least the guardsman, who was less lucky, was proof that they hungered after flesh.
It felt easy to leap several meters to the next balcony, all thanks to a little magic, and this was also the only thing that seemed to work right now. Well it was worth another try. She turned around mid jump and emptied the entire magazine into the body of that black mass of energy.... yes, energy. It had the shape of a dog, but maybe that was the reason why the projectiles did absolutely nothing.
"Just great! Can't you just die already, you sucker!?"
A little panic was in those words, as she landed, rolling off just in time to avoid having her head removed by one of those things. They were also quite fast and agile. That one at least had followed quite easily. People at least died when they werekilled shot into their head, but those things were completely unaffected. Even a tank would take more damage..... and those were usually not in a theater. Monsters on the hand were not the usual guests in one, either.
Why did she have to put her nose into this? The flight was not nice, and after finally getting into town after that nightmare, it was basically just a pointless sightseeing tour to get a basic overview over the city. This was one of the last remaining spots on the tour, and despite her buddies suggestion, the ex soldier did not feel too compelled to pay a visit at first.
But then you hear a little scream and one thing comes to the next. The completely normal reflex. You run into the theater to play the hero and see some monstrosities, you open fire, kill a few, and then see another group that looks different, you fire again and nothing happens....
Okay? Nothing of that was normal. It should not be normal, or she was just going crazy. How wonderful would this be? Just a little pill every morning and nothing ever happened. The claw barely missing her head still seemed just too real to be a hallucination.
-Click- It was just getting better. Guns were your friend, during the training, it was not abnormal to sleep with them, and she really adored hers. They were like trustworthy friends, just that this gun of hers really failed its duty right now.
And she had hoped to keep this monster at distance. That thing was seriously ugly... Unfortunately the clicking sound was indicating a small problem with her ammunition. Unlimited ammo only existed in games. Where was the controller to enter the cheat code!? The beast was not providing an answer and instead was jumping at her again. At least something that was partly planned for once. Aya had already set some methods in her head to react accordingly. It was not exactly foresight, but it helped to have a set of possibilities in your head to act faster.
This and her reinforcement made this thing almost appear in slow motion. Hah! Bullet Time. Some cheats work, after all. But she would still prefer unlimited ammo and invincibility. Those things instilled fear in her heart. She could still not say anything about them, except for one thing. They were pure hatred, the embodiment of malice. If this had something to do with magic, then she knew why she had tried to stay away from the inner circle and only learned what she thought to be useful.
"Do you want to tell me that magic works here?"
She spun on her heel and delivered a well executed roundhouse kick straight at the place which supposedly held the heart and the wonderful cracking sound felt like a stone falling from her heart. The body smashed into the wall and stopped moving. A part of the inexperienced magus still had issues to accept that her roundhouse kick was more efficient than a bullet, but she did not care too much. Her life was on the line and if she had to play Karate Kid to survive, then oh hell, she would.
If only her time would allow it. 2:32 That was the time she had left until her reinforcement would wear off. "You won't just run away, after I tell you guys that I can throw fireballs, eh?" .....Guess not. There was also the problem that she had simply skipped that lecture. Well she never had a master that taught such fancy, flashy tricks.
Fixing the gloves and preparing for the next wave, Aya made up her mind. The time for running away had ended. If she needed to punch her way through, then so be it. "Bring it on!" She was ready to kill any dog like thing, and that ..ape... towering a bit over 2 meter....? "Who told you that you can just bring big daddy? I thought this was between you and me."
The next instant that thing was next to her. Had she fallen asleep or was this brat just much faster than it looked like? Her arms blocked, but she felt like something would break any minute. It really hurt, despite the reinforcement. Her power and reinforcement was beginning to wear out. Too much time wasted on running away.
"Could.. ow.. " Could what? Ah, right they could have just told about their weakness beforehand. She felt like an idiot know, but how should she know? There was no chapter about dealing with monsters in any of her books. "You goddamn Furball." Sounded kind of cute, but that thing looked more like a black, naked gorilla. "Shaved furball then, whatever." The fist came again, ready to squash her under its weight, but she was prepared this time.
She only needed a flip to the side to evade this vicious attack and use the moment for a speed run up its arm. She felt like one of those super ninjas at the moment and then kicked at the head as hard as she could. Not the most elegant method to be frank, but she thought for a moment that it was quite cool and grinned cheeky. Her short lived moment of victory. Theaters were not created to survive the weight of a supernatural creature and the reinforced kick of a careless Officer.
They broke through and the landing was partly cushioned by the beast that already began to fade away, but the glorious sight was not for Aya to be seen. The body was not the only thing that faded, her vision also began to give out and she really blacked out for 3.05 seconds. She counted the time and it seemed like an eternity, while the monsters were waiting to rip her apart. "Haha... great, Aya. Hey, playing the hero is nice and all, but isn't there some other fool out there who wants to play the hero and save me tonight? I'm not exactly quiet..."
A scream, gunshots, crashing floors? You had to be deaf to not hear that or they were just not as dumb as her. Whatever the reason, she was alone with some corpses and lovely black dogs.... "I should have brought some dog toys with me..." At least Mister Black Gorilla had fallen off the Building, his captured girl ramming her heel deep through its skull. Just wonderful that the only dirt on her clothes was her own blood, leaving some faint trail and maybe she was already turning crazy, but talking to herself felt a bit reassuring. There was just nobody else who was interested in sharing some friendly words of comfort.
"0:00" ...time was up and she felt sluggish and weak. The after effects were kicking in. She needed a steak and a good night of sleep. A pity that this moment would never come. Another drop fell and landed on something like a circle...
"!?" She had been too busy to notice it, but there was something like a magic circle on the ground. Did someone try to summon something? Where those things all the work of some crazy magus? It seemed outside of a normal person's abilities, but she knew that her knowledge was fairly meager and she was too tired to think straight.
The glow increased and the entire area was filled with light. "Don't tell me.... Give me a break..." Would she summon more of those things? Will shereally become a sacrifice tonight!?
