PERSONALITY: //
[/li][li]Genius
- By the standards of his family, anyway. He is quick to figure out new things, as evidenced by being the heir at such a relatively young age, though his luck also played a part in that.
[/li][li]Guilty
- He is willing to do anything for the sake of his family, but he feels bad about performing morally questionable actions. He will still perform them, and show no outward signs of his inner turmoil, but he will feel terrible.
[/li][li] Follows the path of the Magus
- Tries his best to follow the traditional Magus mentality, and does pretty well at it. He feels pretty bad about doing morally questionable things in the name of this path, but he does them anyway without hesitation, telling himself that it is for the sake of his family.
[/li][li]Loyal to the Hunzahua
- He will do anything to further the cause of the Hunzahua. Anything.
[/li][li]Stoic
- He very rarely shows outward emotion, at least on his face. His tone of voice can be a different matter. This control tends to slip fairly easily, especially in a fight.
[/li][li]Enjoys Combat
- Santiago enjoys dominating a fight and engaging in physical combat, in large part due to the acrobatics this allows him to indulge in.
[/li][li]Confident
- Has confidence in his skills as a businessman, as a Magus, and as a combatant. Is far less pronounced than the outright arrogance of most Magi. He has little pride in himself and his abilities, but much in his family and their achievements.
[/li][li]Lucky Twenty Seven
- He often has strokes of very good luck, which usually have the number twenty seven crop up shortly beforehand.
LIKES: // His family, being appreciated by his family, people appreciating his family, showing that his skills (And by extension, his family's) are better than others, fighting, acrobatics, South American History, gold, Soccer, the number 27
DISLIKES: // People who are dismissive of him his family or South Americans, doing morally questionable things, not living up to his family's expectations, the number 4 (no reason, he just doesn't like it)
STRENGTHS: // Is skilled in close combat, using reinforcement and a variety of South American Martial Arts. The way he uses his family's Magecraft allows for amazing acrobatics, pushing off of metal objects on the ground to send him soaring about through the air at high speeds, making him very difficult to hit. Also, the "Uta" spell allows him to move faster than most Magi using reinforcement, at least when combined with reinforcement of his own. Also, the martial art he is most skilled with is Capoeira, which is known to be unpredictable and difficult to fight against with orthodox martial arts.
WEAKNESSES: //
Besides dodging, Santiago has no way to defend himself against attacks that do not use metal. His style of fighting tends to chew through his prana fairly quickly. Also, his family's three martial arts all involve the ground in some way: Capoeira fights from the ground, Jiu-Jitsu throws the opponent to the ground, and Luta Livre Esportiva is most effective when both fighters are off their feet and on the ground. As a result, these martial arts are difficult to effectively use in the air, a place where Santiago spends a lot of time in a fight. Santiago has learned a handful of techniques from several other martial arts such as Bakom, but he has not learned them to the same degree he has his family's arts. For that matter, he is not quite as skilled with Martial Arts as many other physical specialists in the war.
MY FAMILY LINE: //
The Hunzahua family is five hundred years old -- having been founded in 1538 -- and has eight generations.
In the 1500's the Spanish invaded what is now Colombia. A Muisca tribesman named Hunzahua decided to spy on the invaders, and spotted a man working miracles when he thought he was alone -- a Magus. The Magus was new to the craft, and was defeated and captured by Hunzahua. Over many months, Hunzahua interrogated the Magus and learned the secrets of Magecraft from him. While obviously not a very good Magus, the would-be Conquistador was still very knowledgable of how Magecraft worked, and Hunzahua was able to learn much from him, even activating circuits of his own and learning how to make a Crest.
Over the years Hunzahua's descendants -- now using Hunzahua as their last name, as surnames were not something that the Muisca had -- managed to contact other Magi and learn or steal more knowledge of Magecraft. In more recent times, they have decided to seek membership with the Clock Tower to further their research. Santiago was sent to Europe to speak with them about membership.
On the mundane side of things, the original Hunzahua was aware of the location of a store of Muisca gold, and was able to secure it after the Muisca nation was destroyed by Conquistadores. Based on this foundation, the modern day Hunzuaha family are Colombia's most respected goldsmiths and antiquarians.
Due to the original Hunzahua defeating a Magus with ordinary combat, the Hunzahua family's style of magic combat is very physical, using a combination of hyper-accelerated coins, and martial arts that take full advantage of their ability to modify how much they weigh. They do not believe in using non-magical weapons however; only mystic codes, their spells, and their own bodies. They use a mix of South American Martial Arts: Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, Luta Livre Esportiva, and Capoeira.
The Hunzuaha's element is Gold. This is due to the significance of Gold in Muisca culture, much like how it is possible for wood or metal to be primary elements for a different school of thaumaturgy. The Muisca believed that the world was formed from a golden pulp, and that gold was part of that initial state that had yet to be shaped. Consequently, it has characteristics in common with both "Metal" and "Ether." Many aspects of this element cannot be properly used at the Hunzahua Family's current level of understanding.
The Hunzahua family's Sorcery Trait is "Gue Mny Muy," the House of Golden Ornaments. One effect of this trait is that it allows those who have it to detect metal objects the same way that one detects Prana. It also increases the effectiveness of their spells that effect metal when they are used on or through Gold.
The Hunzahua family uses "Golden Shooter" as a term for one who uses the Hunzahua style of Magecraft, though Santiago shortens it to "Coinshot." The family also made a pretentious title for the current bearer of the Hunzahua crest: the Gilded Zaque.
As descendants of the Muisca, all of the Hunzahua family's spells have arias in the ancient Muisca language, Chibcha. All Hunzahua family members are fluent.
MY HISTORY: // Santiago was considered a fortuitous birth. Twenty Seven is the number of the Hunzahua, and it followed him wherever he went. Born with twenty seven circuits on the twenty seventh of August -- twenty seven days after his mother's twenty seventh birthday -- his birth was considered a sign and he was declared the heir. His circuits had a higher quality than previous members of the family. As he grew, the number twenty seven clung to him more and more. He was declared to be a sign, an omen of good fortune in their family's future with Santiago at the head.
And luck did indeed follow him. All of Santiago's ventures met good fortune, and he was a genius as well. He learned the three martial arts used by his family at an early age, and then added a handful of moves from other martial arts as well. He also mastered the Cacique spell at a very young age.
In fact, Cacique was his favorite spell. While most members of the family simply used it for projectile attacks or flinging around anyone foolish enough to attack them while having metal on their person, Santiago loved using it to move himself around, flinging himself through the air. In the South American magus community, he earned the nickname "Santiago of the Sky" because of this tendency.
He was praised by his family for his great skill, and was heralded as a "lucky existence" who would lead the family into an era of prosperity. Even at a young age, his family saw great things lying ahead for him. And Santiago decided that he would dedicate his life to meeting those expectations. It was a vow he lived up to.
Over time, Santiago managed to make contact with the Clock Tower. He had many meetings with their representatives, and brought things to the point where the Clock Tower agreed to one final interview, which would decide whether the family would be allowed membership.
It was eventually decided that Santiago would be granted the family crest far earlier than normal, only five months after his twenty seventh birthday. This occurred only a month or so before that fateful final meeting with the Clock Tower, which would decide everything. Leaving weeks in advance, Santiago decided to take the long way to the Clock Tower, traveling through most of Europe with a ferry across the Channel as his destination. Two weeks before his meeting, he arrived in a certain Italian City, and decided to stay a little longer than planned out of curiosity about the various strange people in the city. After all, he has two weeks to make it to his meeting at the Clock Tower, which is plenty of time.
WIth his luck, it wasn't likely that he'd run into something that would keep him from that meeting... Right?
MY GOALS: //
To further his family's status and magecraft, at any cost.
EQUIPMENT: //
* Vambraces. The heirlooms of the Hunzahua family, these are very sturdy, and capable of surviving even a bullet with minimal damage. As such, they may used to block mundane attacks. Magecraft is significantly more damaging, and Servants are too much for them obviously. Both contain a mechanism on the underside that can dispense coins into the hand, each capable of containing twenty seven. The one on the left arm has the appearance of the vambrace shown in the picture above; the other has the black and gold switched for coloring but is otherwise identical.
* Coins. Rather than standard currency, these are specially crafted by the Hunzahua family to be used as magic-propelled projectiles; they are far less malleable than ordinary gold due to the magecraft used in their making. Santiago has 108 of them with him, and has no method to make more. They are about the size of Nickels, so Santiago keeps a large supply of ordinary coins to use as well. The specially crafted ones ones are made with gold, and thus the only ones that can be used with Iraca. As a result, Santiago generally only uses mundane coins for shots that do not use Iraca, and keeps the golden ones in his pockets rather than his vambraces.
* Metal Dust. Santiago keeps a large jar of steel dust/shavings on his belt for use in combat. He keeps a smaller jar containing gold dust in a pocket.
* Goldsmithing Kit. The tools necessary to work with gold, Santiago keeps them in his hotel room. Includes a miniaturized furnace and various tools. May double as torture implements in a pinch.
* Greaves. These match the vambraces in both design and durability, but have no special properties and do not dispense coins. They are on opposite sides of the body from their partner vambraces (Black on right leg, gold on left).
* Knick-knacks. Souveneirs that Santiago purchased from shops on his trip so far, he has purchased a number of items that are useful. These include a pair of binoculars, an ornamental athame intended to be used as a letter opener, a golden pocket watch with a long chain, a map of Lucca, a book on Lucca's history and locations, and a pair of gauntlets with gold inlay. There are many others, but these are the only ones of immediate note.
* Gold. Santiago's family is rather rich due to immediate access to Gold, and he brings a large amount of it with him on trips to be converted to money. Some of it is in the form of jewelry, but most of it remains with his luggage. However, there is enough on his person to perform the Zaque spell.
RANK: //
ELEMENT: // Earth, Wind
EXPERTISE: // Precision aiming, physics calculations as pertaining to objects in motion, acrobatics, martial arts
MAGIC CIRCUITS: // Twenty seven natural and twenty seven in his crest, for a total of 54 Circuits. Average PrC for natural circuits is 7, for a total of 189; Average PrC for Crest is 4, for a total of 108. Grand Total is 297 Units.
SPELLS: //
Cacique (Wind)
Rank: E
Cost: 3
Range: 54
Effect: The main offensive spell of Santiago's family, and his most versatile trick. This spell allows the caster to push or pull on any metal within fifty four meters. the user may put as much or as little force into the spell as they wish, however force will be lost the further away the target is. The caster's weight is factored into this spell; if he pushes something lighter than himself, it will be pushed away from him, but if he pushes something heavier or something immobile, he will be pushed away from it. The reverse is true for pulling. The amount of force applied is increased by using more prana and, to a lesser extent, the Caster weighing more. 3 Prana is the amount required to initiate the spell; more prana may be added into the spell at the moment casting is completed to increase its power. Standard usage is to spend seven units of Prana to accelerate a coin to bullet-like speeds. Magic Resistance will prevent the caster from effecting metal within the body of a Magus, but if the metal is gold Magic Resistance may be bypassed in some cases. Is a single action spell.
Zaque (Earth, Wind)
Rank: B
Cost: 81
Range: 1
Effect: Uses both Earth Magic and Electricity to manipulate the gold on the caster's person, turning it into a thin, skin-tight coating that covers their entire body save the eyes, hair and nostrils. When this spell is active, Magic Resistance greatly increases. The true effect of this spell, however, is that it increases the power of certain Magecrafts via the Hunzahua's Sorcery Trait. Reinforcement, Sybyn and Uta increase strength and speed by twenty seven percent more than usual, and Cacique and Iraca move with twenty seven percent more force. Santiago must recite the aria a second time to deactivate this spell; if he fails to do so, and is no longer able to maintain the spell while it is active, the gold will no longer move with his body, and he will be completely immobilized. Is a two verse spell.
Iraca (Wind)
Rank: D
Cost: 17
Range: --
Effect: A far more complex version of Cacique that may only be used upon Gold, and is only useful for projectiles. When used on a Gold coin, the coin is accelerated as with Cacique; however, there are additional effects. First, it creates "Spin" on the coin, at high speeds. Second, wind is used to propel the projectile as well as Cacique. Third, the coin changes shape electrically. In the air, it takes the shape of a narrow drill, maximizing the effects of the spin. Upon impact, it uses the force of impact to condense it down again, then expands inside the target to maximize damage. Is a Two Line Spell.
Sybyn (Wind)
Rank: C
Cost: 54
Range: 2
Effect: A constantly maintained defensive spell. All metal within eighty one inches (2.05 Meters) of the caster, except that upon the caster's person, is pushed away as if by light application Cacique spell. This has the effect of preventing metal implements from harming the Caster, and deflecting metal implements that strike with enough force to get close. This also gives a slight boost to objects flung away with the Cacique spell, as a side effect. Is a one verse spell.
Uta: (Wind)
Rank: D
Cost: 17
Range: 1
Effect: A spell that uses wind to accelerate the user's movements. When the user moves, a steady flow of wind pushes them in the direction they are moving. This spell will only accelerate one part of the body at a time, automatically boosting the part of the body that is moving the fastest; multiple castings are required to accelerate multiple parts of the body. Is a One Verse spell, as it is not actually in the Hunzahua crest like Santiago's other spells.
PLAYER'S NAME: // Niakshin
FACE CLAIM: // Auron (Final Fantasy)
OTHER CHARACTERS: // Rahmah Ibn Jabir
MISC. INFORMATION: // I'm aware that the amount of prana this spells use is rather vague. The variable nature of the expenditure makes it incredibly hard to calculate a formula for it.
Gue Mny Muy's "twenty seven" ability was added at the last minute to explain why the number twenty seven crops up so often in this profile. The real reason was kind of a joke that started with his birthday being on the twenty seventh; literally every member of my family has a birthday on the twenty seventh of a month (Mine's March, my brother's is May, my Mom's is January, and my Dad's is September). This part of the trait may be removed without complaint, as it's mostly for flavor anyway.
Amusingly, this character was originally an American "gunslinger without guns" named Maximilian Lockwood. I got stumped on naming his mystic codes, but the first name that came to mind was "Eldoraado." I decided to go with it, and named the other one Quivira, after another one of the seven cities of gold. After that, I decided to name his spells after other things from the Muisca culture, and then just made the founder of the line a Muisca tribesman. The end result was a very different Magus from South America.
I considered the names Diego and Vinicius (Apparently Vinicius is a popular name in Colombia, where Santiago is from) before settling on Santiago.
As for his role… He will investigate the war, and see what sort of skills and Mysteries that he can learn about from observation/interrogation of Servants, Masters, and the grail itself (Mostly masters of course), all in order to add to the Hunzahua's capabilities. Expect Servantless Masters to be captured and tortured^_^ As the war nears its end and it becomes apparent that it's a potential apocalypse, he will become conflicted between leaving in order to make it to his appointment at the Clock Tower (Leaving the fate of the grail in the hands of people he can't trust), or staying to help prevent the end of the world (Missing his appointment and thus likely giving up his family's best chance of joining the Association).
