- A Mother to her People
- As the leader of a closely knit tribe Hippolyta learned to care personally for all of her warrior sisters. This sentiment extends to anyone she considers family (a high compliment coming from her).
- Maternal Instinct
- While she had no children of her own, she is still intensely protective of her family and will fight tooth and nail to defend them.
- Respect for the Honorable
- Hippolyta does not inherently dislike men nor like women. Rather a person of either sex has to prove themselves. If you show honor in all your dealings and fight to your best ability you can easily earn her respect. If, however, you are a coward or a double-dealer, you will be treated like the worm you are.
- A Tactician with Standards
- She may hate dishonest tactics, but she is still a strategic leader in the end. She won't take someone by surprise or stealth, but once the enemy is aware and prepared for a fight she won't pull her punches. Similarly while she generally won't flee, she will retreat if she finds herself in an unwinnable fight.
LIKES: // her tribe, hunting, head-on battles, honor, warriors who use their strength for noble means.
DISLIKES: // THESEUS (if for some reason he were to appear, it would take a command seal to prevent her from trying to kill him), underhanded tactics, her birth sex, those who abuse power over others, cowards and traitors.
STRENGTHS: // most comfortable fighting at close range, knowledgeable in solo and squad based warfare, assessing the strength of others, stalking prey, familiar with heroes of ancient Greece
WEAKNESSES: // her shame of her body and guilt of her failure, slower acting when fighting at range, unwilling to stoop to "low" tactics to win

MY LEGEND: // en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippolyta
MY HISTORY: // I was the eldest of four children, my mother the queen Otrera and my father our patron god, Ares. Although I was born blessed with the greatest strength Ares could offer, I was born different than my sisters. By some fluke of fate I was born into a body both male and female.
My mother told me when I was young all of the trouble I had caused her. A child of impure femininity would be met with hostility yet she could not bring herself to kill a child gifted by Ares, even as cursed as I. My repulsive vestige was kept a secret and I was raised as all the other girls. I still remember the right of passage into adulthood my mother gave me, excising the accursed part from my body to ensure the secret's safety. Castration they called it. Had it not been done the cursed masculinity may have spread itself throughout my body. It hurt beyond measure but I never hated my mother for it. It was only the price I had to pay for the right to rule.
For many years my secret was kept from my people. My body's curse even seemed to be lifting. My breasts finally began to grow, if only little by little. Funny it is, there were warriors in my tribe that would cut off a breast to best fire an arrow or fling a javelin, yet here was their leader, joyful at the growth of her own. Though I always felt slightly disconnected from my people by my nature, I strove to serve them as best a queen could. I was fair, my people were happy and it was a golden time for the Amazons.
Our peace began to crumble with the arrival of Herakles and his followers. I knew from the moment I saw him he was a warrior beyond what I could hope to match, that if he wished it our entire tribe could be wiped out. Not wishing to incur his wrath I welcomed his group into our village and bade them stay until their business was complete. He spoke of his quest, the retrieval of a belt blessed by Ares that so happened to be of my possession. I requested a night to reflect on his request and answer him in the morning.
The real trouble, I soon discovered, was not Herakles but one of his followers, Theseus. The lech had been lusting after several of my tribe and as their queen I was no exception to his desires. Though I repeatedly refused him he would not quit, going so far as to attempt to sneak a view of my private bath.
Unfortunately he succeeded. Though the curse of man had halted its advance, there was still the remnants of what had been. The scoundrel blackmailed me with my secret, threatening to expose me if I did not give up my belt. I had no choice and the next morning I gave Herakles his prize and saw his party off on their journey.
My troubles did not end here though. The goddess Hera, constant foe of Herakles, disguised herself as an Amazon, and while I escorted the men to their ship, spread the lie that they planned not only to take the belt, but slaughter my tribe and kidnap their royalty. Like any loyal warriors they raced off to "save" me. As they arrived the Greeks believed it an ambush, that I had never intended to give them the belt at all. I tried my best to placate my warriors, but I was struck down by an enraged Herakles. My last vision of this earth was the slain bodies of my people and my sister Antiope carried off by Theseus.
I'm sorry my sisters, your wretched queen has failed you.
MY GOALS: // I desire the grail for a second chance at life with my sisters, a lifetime where we never fell to such crooked lies.
The Labrys
NOBLE PHANTASM: //
The Girdle of Ares's Chosen
Rank: B
Type: Support
Range: Self
Max Targets: 1
The gift from Ares and the objective of Herakles' ninth labor. As father of the Amazon leaders he imparted in each a divine courage and love of war. As the exemplar of these traits, Hippolyta was given the girdle, designating her a warrior worthy of ruling. In battle the belt raises the wearer's Strength and Endurance by one rank. She can if she so chooses, to keep the belt's power latent (by default it would activate as soon as a battle begins). As long as the conditions for initial activation are fulfilled the belt can be activated later on in combat. However the belt only engages when she is displaying the love of war and courage that the girdle was given to recognize. This buff only lasts within battle, and as soon as the battle ends, the buff ends. Beginning a new battle can restart the buff. A proper battle, as recognized by the belt, consists of at least two parties who are knowingly engaging in combat (thus it will not empower her if she is using a surprise attack or is the target of a surprise). Additionally if she shows cowardice, either by using dishonorable strategy, retreating out of fear for herself, or giving up on a fight she still has a chance to win, the belt will cease to recognize her as it's rightful owner. She can redeem herself to her girdle, but only by going through a scenario with a similarly severe "choice" and picking the course of action the belt would approve of.
The Labrys
Rank: C/C+
Type: Anti-Personnel
Range: 2-3
Max Targets: 1
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labrys
One of Hippolyta's most prized weapons, the Labrys is a 1 and 1/2 meter long, double-headed poleaxe. It was taken after her defeat by Herakles, ultimately finding its way to the Minoans of Crete. The Labrys to modern society still stands for the power of independent women and matriarchal society. While a sturdy and reliable weapon on its own, its full power comes when a secondary condition is met. When the labrys is wielded against someone who would impose their will against an unwilling woman the rank increases to C+. This can only be activated when what she would be unwilling to do, that would cause significant mental or physical suffering is involved. It also won't interfere with a situation that the woman in question entered knowing the full consequences of her actions when she entered the situation. In short, if she accurately knew how bad things would get and still did it, The Labrys won't get its buff.

A Note on Sex: to clarify, my version of Hippolyta is an intersexed individual, born with male and female primary sex organs and female secondary sex organs.
A Note on Conflict with Theseus: I realize that there is someone trying to apply for a Theseus servant but I don't think there's a reason both can't be included. The legend of Theseus occurs before his involvement with Herakles and his labors (otherwise he wouldn't be included in his party of heroes). There's no reason why Theseus can't be from before he helped with the 9th labor making any characterization they choose to be accurate.
