No, I'm pretty sure you don't know my father either.
That's because we all look the same.
Uhm, isn't asking someone if he's a homunculus kinda offensive?"

- Fun-loving
- There aren't many things to be happy about a monotonous existence and the realization that, while tomorrow will never be exactly the same as today, it won't ever be actually fulfilling.
That's why I'll take as much fun as I'm allowed from every little good thing that comes along the way, be it a drink with friends, cake(which I love), or generic chatting.
You could say that even if I'm a magus through and through I'm a pretty fun guy to have around, and that's why I always have somebody to talk to when I want to chat.
- There aren't many things to be happy about a monotonous existence and the realization that, while tomorrow will never be exactly the same as today, it won't ever be actually fulfilling.
- Collected
- I've already told you that even if my life is uneventful and bland, I'm a glutton for any crumb of happiness that gets thrown my way. Just like that, when things go bad... well they kind of philosophically go bad and that's it.
I don't mope, get utterly depressed or stuff like that. Simply put, I don't think that we could be cursed again, and if I die today we are going to have a new head tomorrow or the day after. It's not going to be a proper head but he's going to look like me, talk like me and think like me.
He'll have the same number of my Magic Circuits, only worse, and will - after a week or two, obviously - function just like me: it's not like I'd be missed.
This doesn't mean that I'm immune to fear because I get scared too - trust me - since even if life is pitiful, death is way way worse, but I'm so intimate with the concept that my Fate is already sealed that I'm not easy to be pressured by outside factors.
- I've already told you that even if my life is uneventful and bland, I'm a glutton for any crumb of happiness that gets thrown my way. Just like that, when things go bad... well they kind of philosophically go bad and that's it.
- Eye for an Eye
- We're loyal. Extremely loyal. We believe that friends are hard to find, especially inside the Association, and to always treasure them. Maybe spoil them. A LITTLE.
It's not something we do without self-interest, obviously, and that's why we target talented families without regard to lineage. You just need to have what it takes to be successful inside Clock Tower.
We're great sponsors, being a somewhat old family without being snobs about it. We help you grow, you help us get results, and when we throw our political weight around it will be favorable for anyone involved in our faction.
And then there are enemies. By that, I don't mean people who oppose me/us: it's fair to not like us and opposing our views, and we're actually more permissive about being challenged than other families.
I'm talking about real enemies: they double-cross you, they harm or kill someone of us, and what happens is the closest thing to a full scale war that the Association permits.
While we don't like to be trifled with, we allow it without repercussions in the spirit of competition. But there's a limit, and once you go overboard we do it too.
- We're loyal. Extremely loyal. We believe that friends are hard to find, especially inside the Association, and to always treasure them. Maybe spoil them. A LITTLE.
- Strong-willed
- I'm going to win. I'm not here to see what a Grail War is about, I'm not here to have fun and slaughter lesser magi, I'm not here to piss the Church off or to bring chaos.
I'm here because the War is an opportunity, a shortcut to Akasha that could finally save my bloodline from its curse. We deserve it.
The First One was a dick to a magus or even a sorcerer and stole his fiancé, I get it. We suffered, and we still do. But I think that's enough, and the wheel of karma should be next to a full turn.
So it's up to me helping the wheel move a bit faster and remove the curse of the Ouroboros.
I'm not going to take a pass this time, not even for someone else's sake. We will all be free from reincarnation

LIKES:
Change
Cake
Minerals
Drinking/smoking with someone
Chatting
Glasses that don't melt when used
Things that don't melt when looked
DISLIKES: Stillness
Being alone
Having nothing to do
Magi too interested in politics
Himself
STRENGTHS: As a magus, I'm not bad at fighting because of Zauch traditions and spells and - well - the curse not allowing us to die when it doesn't want to. Being the exact replica of the First One, I have the same talent, prana and Magic Circuits, and he was a pretty good magus from what I know.
WEAKNESSES: I'm a good magus. I'm not one the best. And even though I'm good, let's not forget what the 4th War taught us: two families wagered heavily on the war but no one came back. Lineage and blood mean next to nothing on the battlefield.
I don't have illusions oshapshiftingng capabilities, so I should be pretty easy to spot by people from the Association, and my Magecraft does not drift much away from corroding/melting stuff.
Last but not least, as ruthless as I think I've become, I'm still too soft-hearted for stuff like killing a defeated magus who surrenders.[/ul][/blockquote]
MY FAMILY LINE: Zauch of Ouroboros
A millennia-old family, whose name and nature were very different at the time: men of the sea, traders, explorers and a nomadic family with close ties to Water magic. They weren't great, they were not famous and all went well until the First One came along somewhen around 900.
His name was Lucas Zauc-something - I honestly don't know the original family name - a young magus who looked exactly like me, with more than enough talent and not so much wisdom. Just like his father, he was a man of the sea, a trader who only set foot on the land to sell stuff and avoid storms.
One day in Marseilles, after pillaging a good amount of gold from the locals in exchange for his goods, he went to a tailor to finally spend some of that hard-earned money, and met the supposed woman of his dreams.
They began to know each other, with him courting her every time he approached Marseilles, and finally falling in love.
Now, the version is clearly biased to make us feel better, so take this with a grain of salt, but a night she pleaded Lucas to take her with him. He did so, dumb and trusting as he was.
What wasn't known at the time was that she was engaged to a powerful user of Witchcraft, who didn't think enough of the Zauchs to introduce himself to the magi visiting his hometown now twice a month, and the former childhood friend of Lucas' new wife.
So, my ancestor stole the fiancé from a master of Witchcraft, and said fiancé was the most precious thing in the world to him. What's next?
He had nothing else to live for, so he was a dangerous magus with only revenge in mind. And he got it, maybe too much if I can say so.
He was powerful alright, but wanted something special and unique for his enemy. A Death Curse or Evil Eye didn't suffice, and lifelong suffering didn't satisfy him either. He wanted him to pay for stealing away the love of his life, so he went to visit the protector spirit of that land.
A Sea Spirit. He explained to him his plan and bargained a price for the assistance.
Guess who also was under the tutelage of Sea Spirits, because he and his family were men of the sea? Right, it was as easy as gets considering that Spirits aren't really fair judges and stealing someone else's love isn't noble either.
The curse is very elaborate, the basis of which is an Evil Eye (driving the sorcerer were envy and hostility after all) whose power consists in having the cursed never again experiencing success, but seeing everything around him corrupt and collapse.
Thing is, this isn't the common Evil Eye, so it LITERALLY makes everything you see corrupt and collapse. But wait it gets better, this is just the appetizer.
The main dish says that you'll never excape from this fate, meaning you can't kill yourself, and you die only when the curse wants you to. STILL not over.
The moment you die, someone in your bloodline gives birth at that exact same time, and your soul gets reincarnated there. Only the finishing touch to go.
Your entire bloodline will suffer. Each and every newborn son will be your copy, and every daughter will be HER copy. Lucas will suffer the most, though, because the Evil Eye stays with Lucas Zauch.
Never changing, never escaping, every Lucas Zauch holds 20 Magic Circuits with 30 PrC, and every son of a Zauch holds 20 Magic Circuits with 15 PrC.
Want to kill yourself? You won't succeed. Don't want to have children? You will once drink a little too much, and you'll have at least one. You only die when Fate wants so.
There is no way out, I think a couple of generations tried only that.
That bastard even gave his life and soul to the curse, happy that even if it would backfire at least his nemesis would suffer like he deserved.
So our family was born, detached from the original one, and the family name became a much shorter Zauch: the first proper heads were hermits, because it requires quite a bit of concentration to not fuel the Evil Eye when you access your Magic Circuits, and spent their entire lives just to find ways to control it. The first four were the longest living Zauch, we think because the curse isn't satisfied by a hermit Lucas.
I say proper heads because legends say that the first iterations of Lucas extensively tried to kill themselves before choosing to be blind.
From then onwards the core of the family went back to nomadic traditions - on land this time, the sea was not our home anymore - while the head and few others got more and more close to the Mage's Association.
We're storically part of Clock Tower - I'm the 15th iteration of Zauch and the 11th Head with the Association - with studies that focus on the negation of reality(because we don't like it). Like every family of magi we seek Akasha, but it pains me to say we're not that successful.
Our sorcery trait is the Evil Eye: outsiders may call it otherwise, but it's that to us. It took us something like 500 years, but i can use it to my satisfaction although i still employ Mystic Eye Killers so that if I get emotional things don't disappear.
Our spells mainly follow our Sorcery Trait to dissolve matter.
MY HISTORY:
I was born in Finland and from what I know, my mother is really good-looking and my nanny always says my father back then terrified me. Childhood wasn't very exciting or good, since 3 days after I was born my uncles took me away from home, and I was raised by my nanny and someone who looks like me in my 50's in the countryside of austria. And let me tell you, my family doesn't actually like me: they feel sorry for the poor bastard, but at the same time I'm the cause of it all. I don't blame them, I'd do waaay worse to me.
The Evil Eye is weak at first, but still I was taught what had to be taught to the Head. Like every distinguished family of magi, mine enforced a harsh regimen of studies and teachings, and I had something like 12 teachers or so. Weekends were great because me and nanny actually went to town to remind me that not everyone looked just like me or my auntie.
Nobody ever told me that I'm an iteration of the curse or how things work in the family until I was 15 or so. Things weren't looking good, but I think there's a manual(tight schedule to keep him busy included!) to assure that the head doesn't become a suicidal maniac because of guilt or depression (either that or I was on drugs), since I never tried to kill myself or did stuff like challenging a bear to a fight.
I became part of the Association at 18, as an apprentice under the current family Head. It was incredible: there were those who did or didn't like me, those who plainly ignored me and those who tried to... I don't know exactly what they wanted since the Head didn't allow me to associate with those who were OBVIOUSLY trying to make use of me.
The Head was gentle and a really good Master, maybe because I was the one who would finally take his job or maybe because he actually didn't resent me at all.
Seven years later I was told to dye my hair, becoming the Head myself.
I still don't know the difference between what I did as an Apprentice and what I do now. I do less research, while doing more and more talking, and sleeping less.
Fine with me.
MY GOALS: I'm going to ask the Grail to remove our curse of reincarnation. Then I'll be riding into the sunset. Going into hiding, mainly.
Either that or I hope to be killed by a Servant. Not mine, though.
[/blockquote]
RANK: as a proper Head of House Zauch bearing an Evil Eye, my rank is Emerald
ELEMENT: Acid/Poison (Water) [Origin of "Sea-faring" overwritten by the curse to that of "Ruin"]
EXPERTISE:
Anatomy: we spent centuries trying to investigate if the source of the curse was inside our bodies. It wasn't, but we got lots of useful information along the way.
I know my way around the human body: even though I'm not a doctor or a healer, my knowledge allows me to mitigate medium-to-low injuries with efficiency.
Hand-to-hand fighting: most of us are nomads, always looking for something unusual to either investigate or report. We got to be able to defend ourselves when we can't employ magic, so our traditions demand that a young Zauch should be able to fend off criminals and such without being armed.
In the past it was more difficult to find masters, but the world became extremely vast through the last centuries, allowing us to find suitable teachers and then share our experiences with our kind.
We are not at all great, but as the Head of the family I can manage way better than the average magus without martial background.
MAGIC CIRCUITS: As the reincarnation of the First One, I have 20 Magic Circuits with 30 PrC
SPELLS:
[Evil Eyes] ([Acid/Poison])
Rank: [E->A]
Cost: [Need Help]
Range: [Need help for volume, pr cost should be scaled in function of that | centered to the point the eyes are focused on]
Effect: [ Here are more technical explanations on how the Evil Eyes work.
We refer to the Evil Eyes' effect as Reality Poison, and it is actually quite simple, once you lose a few centuries studying only that: by applying prana to the area, it forces the concept of "Decay" on everything contained within. If matter can somewhat be affected by decay(in whatever form) it will be disrupted, in a time proportional to the prana spent.
For example: stone erodes, metals rust, organic matter melts and then becomes dust. From a visual standpoint it's a dark green film enclosing an area, like green jelly without any mass.
Corrosion can be avoided by escaping, since there isn't any force at work blocking the targets inside, or by destroying the field itself.
The Eyes are particularly effective against prana: theoretically speaking, you can employ 10 units of prana to dissolve an effect of 9 prana of magnitude, and the decay will only take an instant or so. Then again, if its strenght is 20 units of prana, its power will be halved after passing through.
Those with the blood of Zauch in their veins are immune to the effect.]
[Ritual of Protection] ([Water])
Rank: [E]
Cost: [Need Help]
Range:
Effect:
[Lifesblood] ([Water])
Rank: [E]
Cost: [See Below]
Range: [-]
Effect: [A spell that absorbs water molecules in the air to create a more cohesive form to use as raw spell fodder. With enough time and raw matter it is possible to create large bodies of water.
Originally created as a spell for filtration of water and raw material finding, it has recently been found to have the ability to increase its power and efficiency tenfold with merely half the prana that would be required for ten individual spells. If one liter of water would cost two prana, two liters would cost three and so on. The required prana expended thus greatly decreases, making it and incredbly efficient ability while being cheap.
As many water spells require a catalyst in the form of a body of water, it has become an essential ability in guaranteeing the new found offensive capabilities of water magi. It can also be used to purify common water by decomposing the molecules and then reforming them. The spell can also be used to manipulate small bodies of water into various shapes and easily store the production results. A skilled Magus can also decompose already established shapes such as ice and create new water out of it, thus recycling materials nearly endlessly.]
[Snake Bite] ([Acid/Poison])
Rank: B
Cost: [Need Help, requires Lifesblood]
Range: [15m double green ray, can bend less than 90° to reach the target]
Effect: [It's our main offensive spell that corrupts water into a green liquid, which then gets shot towards the target like two parallel jets of acid. They have small penetration properties, passing easily through organic matter and fabric, but they stop after 20 cm of metal or stone]
