FAMILY LINE: //
The first Carter magus was a street performer who stumbled into real magic accidentally through a chance encounter in the 19th century. Since then, the ambitious Manhattan Carters have since worked hard to establish some foothold, any foothold really, into the world of magic, even managing a moderately impressive collection of magical amulets. However their pursuits of grandeur have clouded their morals and who can say by what means they have gained what they possess.
(OOC: Consequently what exactly is the state of North America in the Nasuverse?)
HISTORY: //
Andrea is an unfortunate victim of the Carter family’s greed. From the moment of her birth, her purpose in life was determined as a pawn to be used for the advancement of the family’s status. An arrangement was made with a prominent family in Britain, the Harrows, whose magical prowess had been in decline in the last century. The Carters needed legitimacy and the Harrows needed new blood, and so before her first words could be uttered, her marriage was decided.
Andrea herself was never an outspoken girl, or extraordinary in anyway. Her talent for magic was little, her grades in school weren’t very good, and she had little in the way of looks, so instead she took burying her nose into books and escaping into fiction. Her younger sister was the star of the family, talented in music, art, science, magic, and not to mention pretty; she was to be the Carters had been waiting for for three generations. Being the first born, however, meant that she at least had the arranged marriage, and while the Harrows boy was snobbish and mean, he was at least handsome, and so she had complacently gone along with everything her family had planned for her.
Unfortunately fate had a cruel turn of events in store for Andrea and her first child came into the world stillborn. Accused of bringing shame to the family, the marriage was annulled, a new one was arranged with Andrea’s younger sister, and Andrea herself was cast out of the family and onto the streets. Cursing her unfortunate fate, her naïve complacency, and above all, the Carter family, Andrea sought out a way to prove her worth and get revenge.

So yeah, not the most practical character I guess, but I tried to go for plot over powers. Some things still need fleshing out but I'll get to that later, and definitely need help with the skills and stuff, if anyone is willing to give some pointers (I'm not familiar with the logistical side of things in Fate).
