- Aloof
- Tell believes that he should keep himself and everyone else away from each other's hair, as he is unwilling to burden others or be seen as meddling by them. As he silently turns his back and goes off on his own, though, it is easy to simply see him as an unfriendly and distant character.
- Painfully Honest
- On the occasions when Tell decides to speak his mind, you can be quite certain that he will say only what he considers to be the truth. However, he seems to have an uncanny knack of saying things in the most cutting way possible...
- Serious
- It's difficult not to question or point out any of the insanity of a world where imbalanced wizards are summoning a bunch of reality-bending heroes from the past to fight a private war, even when you're a member of the latter group, but Akasha knows that Tell is trying his best.
Well, he does have his own duties to attend to as a Servant, so he will still concentrate on them and do them well. It's what he's here for, after all.

- Moral
- Despite everything else, Tell still likes to do what's right and good for others - it may be bothersome and dangerous, but it's still what any decent person should do in this world.

MY HISTORY: //
Fine. Here's one for all easily amused folks out there; I suppose it might be a little bit interesting.
It's my story, but I was just an ordinary person who hunted animals for a living - one of the bunch who roamed the forests of the alpine cantons for games around that time. I might be a better shot than most of them, but I didn't think that it really mattered. As long as you can hold your crossbow properly, at the end of the day, you should be able to return home with something for your family.
You see? It's not really an exciting start at all; if you're expecting gods, fairies, or the supernatural, you're in for a disappointment. The rest of the story will only be slightly more interesting, too.
Anyway, where was I... Yes, family. I loved mine very much, of course, but that was also to be expected. I had a lovely, caring wife, and two clever sons. What more could a person ask for? What little scraps of food and wealth that I could gather was so small and insignificant when compared to their mere presence in my life, much less their tender affection for me.
...I'm sure you're not here to listen to the story of a man and his happy family, though, so I'll skip ahead to the day where I took my young son Walter to visit my wife's father in the town of Altdorf. As I've mentioned before, I was just an ordinary person. I wouldn't claim that I understand too much about the politics at that time: about the relationship between the Forest Cantons and Austria and the Holy Roman Empire, which was supposed to rule us; about the governors appointed by the Austrian emperor to oversee his holdings...
What I knew - and would learn firsthand how much - was that the Governor of Altdorf, Gessler, was a contemptible man. He was a tyrant who oppressed the people, a wretched man who was fond of inflicting shame and misery on innocents. I didn't think too much about it at the time, since I wasn't immediately affected by his rule.
That would quickly change with our little visit.
I saw that he had hung his hat on a pole in the town's central square, and placed an order for everyone who passed by to bow down to it. Even now, I still think that it's stupid and humiliating. Why an empty hat? What would such an order accomplish? If he wished to affirm our loyalty or fulfill his arrogance, weren't there many other ways for him to do so? He could have had us kissing his feet every time he appeared in person, for instance - not that it would be too much of an improvement, but at least it would have made a little more sense.
At any rate, I chose not to do such a meaningless gesture. A bad choice, as it turned out - there were guards watching the place. I was quickly caught and brought to the governor himself. This was where he sentenced me with an unforgettable punishment for my "misbehavior": hearing that I was a good marksman, he ordered me to shoot an apple that was placed on my son's head, or we would both be executed.
It was... It was both cruel and mischievous. The slightest flinch from my hand would make me a murderer of my own son. But, little Walter bravely stepped forth, convinced that I wouldn't miss my mark and stood as still as he could. If there was any single courageous soul in this entire affair, it would be him. I was as terrified and worried as I could be.
I didn't miss. Sorry to ruin the suspense. Skill, luck - I don't really care about what actually happened. What mattered is that Walter was safe and sound.
I didn't plan to fail, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to live with my son's blood on my hands had I hurt him. There was perhaps a part of me that was prepared for that grim outcome - a subconscious instinct, you might call it - and it convinced me to take revenge if the worst should happen. I took two bolts out from my quiver for my crossbow. If I missed and killed my son, I would also kill Gessler immediately afterward; that way, at least I could satisfy myself with the death of the scoundrel who was responsible for all this madness.
Gessler noticed that I had taken two bolts for my crossbow, though, and he questioned me for that. Alright, on hindsight, I probably shouldn't tell him the truth that I would kill him had things gone differently, but I did. It's a flimsy excuse, but I wasn't in the best of mood and had never actually made a habit out of lying, so...
Anyway, he was predictably angered, and ordered me bound and taken away to be imprisoned in his castle at Küssnacht, on the shores of Lake Lucerne. I must have gotten a lucky break, for a terrible storm suddenly broke out and threatened to sink the boat we were in. Gessler and his soldiers now had no choice but to untie me, so that I could steer them to safety. Being a decent sailor who was native to the land had its own advantages too, I suppose. I did bring them close enough to the shore, of course, but I also used the opportunity to leap from the boat and escape from capture.
Hiding in the woods while trying to find a way back home provided me with a lot of free time to think, I guess, and so I did. About Gessler. About how he almost made me kill my child. I ran those thoughts over and over in my mind until my anger... Well, it didn't exactly subside, really. It's probably more accurate to say that it cooled down into a sense of purpose and gave way to clear thinking.
I realized and remembered that my life wasn't the only one that Gessler had messed around with - the entire canton had suffered because of him. He had wrongly punished and imprisoned many people. He had abused his authority on the common folks. I was perhaps one of the luckier people who ever had the misfortune of crossing paths with that man. It was probably naive and cliched, but I felt that I had to do something - anything to change the situation for the better. No one else might want to do it, after all.
...I had my crossbow with me, so it wouldn't be the establishment of a parliament and universal suffrage. Sorry.
I figured that Gessler would be going straight back to his castle, traveling through the only way that lead from the lake to the castle. So, I laid in hiding by the road, waiting for him... And when he passed by, I killed him with one shot. There was nothing too ceremonious about it, really. His companions were panicked and confused, and I fled back to safety.
After that... It became less of my story and more of everyone who fought for what would be known as the Swiss Confederation. I joined the army and participated in several battles to help defend the people - well, it seemed to me that it was just the right and natural step to take. Threats to our freedom came and go, but we must have done something correct, since we kept on prevailing in the end.
...
...Oh, you're wondering about my death. Alright. Some time later, when I was already old and gray, there was this child who was drowning in the river. No one else was really around, so I supposed that it was up to me to save the kid.
I managed to bring said kid to the shore, but it's difficult to swim around in the rapids when you're old. I drowned. The end.
...
...
...Hmm, that wasn't actually too bad of a tale. Now, I wonder if all or even some of them were actually true. Heh...
MY GOALS: // To find out whether a person named William Tell had actually existed, or whether I was just a nameless person summoned in his shoes. My memory didn't seem to make it clear on that part...

NOBLE PHANTASM: //
Tellenlied - Legend of an Assassin
Rank: E
Type: Support
Range: N/A
Max Targets: Self
An inherent ability that is inseparable from the legendary figure of William Tell. Even though he is summoned into the Archer class, Tell still retains some of his aptitude as an assassin in this War.
By exceptional control of one's mind and body, Archer is able to shut himself out of mental interferences and reduces every trace of his presence to a minimum. This also allows him to carefully observe and deduce the flow of action in battles under any situation.
Simulates the effects of C-rank Presence Concealment.

CLASS ABILITIES: //
Independent Action
The capacity to take action without receiving a supply of prana from the Master. At the higher ranks it is also possible to remain for extended periods of time in this world without a established contract.
B: Capable of remaining in this world for two days without an established contract. Also capable to live on for a short period of time after suffering extensive damage on his spiritual core.
Magic Resistance
Protection against magical effects. Differently from the Resistance effect that merely rejects prana, this ability cancels the spells altogether.
D: Cancel Single-Action spells. Magic Resistance of the same degree of an amulet that rejects magical energy.
SKILLS: //
Apfelschuss - Unshakable Marksmanship
B: This is the incredible feat of shooting an apple off one's son's head. While it has come to be associated mostly with William Tell, there are some other figures in legends and myths who possessed a similar technique.
Through sheer skill and willpower, Tell will automatically negate or reduce any interference to his aim, whether positive or negative, causing its accuracy rate to be almost always constant. Furthermore, the shot is still considered as a normal attack, with its usual prana cost and low detectability.
As a result, nothing short of actual physical interference will cause the crossbow bolt to stray away from its mark. While it is technically possible to dodge the shot, Tell's calm prediction and analysis will decrease the effectiveness of all skills used to anticipate against his own attack, reducing their ranks by one.
Clairvoyance
Superior visual perception. Supplement long-range aiming and increases dynamic vision.
C: Capable of keeping track of fast-moving object within a range of 4km.
Disengage
The ability to break away from combat.
C+: Bonus effect of returning battle conditions to what they were at the beginning of the match. The chance of a successful retreat is increased when his Noble Phantasm is active.
Eye of the Mind (Fake)
A sixth sense for avoiding danger.
B: Bonus effect of offering resistance against penalties caused by visual obstructions.
