- Driven
- When Hetare sets her sight on a goal she relentlessly pursues it. Adversity or inability is merely a temporary set back, soon or later she will achieve her goal no matter what it is. There are no barriers that cannot be broken.
- Orderly
- Not having known much stability in her life Hetare constantly seeks to instill order into her life where ever she can. She is extremely neat, everything has a proper position and place to be in. On a positive side it makes her cautious and thoughtful, on the negative side it makes her prone to inflexibility and easier to unbalance with something she did not expect.
- Family First
- Though currently reduced to just her sister and herself Hetare is devoted to her family. She dotes on her sister and is loathe to be apart from her too long. She loathes her father for having ruined their name but at the same time cannot stand others insulting him or the Yehua name. She has devoted much of her life to restoring her family's reputation, restoring their position in the Magic Association.
- Futurist
- Though she project a cynical attitude Hetare very much believes the future can be better then the present and exceed any past glory. She sees technology as the primary avenue for that and pursue new tech with a passion. To a lesser degree almost anything new captivates her.

STRENGTHS: // Unlike most magi Hetare does not spurn the modern world and is aware of just how useful technology can be. Among the best hackers in the world (via magecraft) with a knowledge of computers and their programing. Obtaining that skill has also made her excellent in areas of research and intelligence gathering. She also has hacked several financial institutions over the years allowing her to live free of financial concerns and acquire almost any normal item. A magus from an old family, Hetare has several powerful spells at her command and the capacity to put them to use.
WEAKNESSES: // Hetare lacks real combat experience, particularly at melee range. She simply has never had to handle anything more dangerous then an unarmed thug. In a very real sense she fits the stereotype of spell casters being cannons made of glass. Perhaps more importantly her family has been deprived of its treasures, leaving her only the dregs to use as tools. She is also conscious that her skill with technology is of limited application in the magus world, you cannot hack an old castle that lacks even electric lights. Also knowing she is talented and having completed a revolutionary spell makes her prone to overconfidence. Finally she has a psychological blind spot with regards to her family and tends to behave less rationally when they are brought up.

MY FAMILY LINE: //
The Yehua family has a recognized lineage of nine generations. The family existed has existed for over a thousand years but only fragmentary records exist from before 1221. They first emerged as a well developed family so it is certain that their first head was not the first of the line. Long based in Asia Minor, their ancestral home lies outside Constantinople. Noted for inconsistent possession of Mystic Eyes allowing them to read any text regardless of language. The family has a long tradition of scholarship, particularly in the sciences and a cosmopolitan attitude. Exploration of science via magecraft and vice versa was long the norm. Many of the family's oldest spells use scientific concepts not seen until centuries after their creation. And in defiance of magecraft tradition they have always embraced and followed technological advancement.
Politically the Yehuas were fluid, drifting from faction to faction within the Association. Eventually they joined the Clock Tower for good in the Elizabethan Era. In that same generation the family made the shocking and disturbing decision to emigrate. They left their stronghold outside Istanbul for the Americas, settling into a new location along the Hudson River. This shocking decision made an already unconventional family an object of no small derision, from which the family's status never truly recovered due to prejudice against Americans in the European dominated Association.
The carefully concealed truth of the matter was that the family felt they had no choice. A seismic disturbance had disrupted the careful currents of power that formed their spiritual land. However no suitable land existed unclaimed within the Old World. Several years of nervous searching before birthing an heir followed. Eventually a compatible location was found unclaimed in the New World. In fact it was a spiritual land of superb caliber, superior to their now deceased land.
More then conscious of the loss of prestige and the terrible risk they had taken the family spent the following generations rebuilding their status. It proved difficult and the family was always relative outsiders. In time though it rose gradually, perhaps because despite their unorthodoxy the family's age could not be denied. If perhaps lowest among peers they were still peers, next to younger upstart families.
By the time of Hetare's grandfather the family was considered settled and if not respectable not intolerable. Hetare's grandfather built through his lifetime with considerable political skill and a well liked reputation as an excellent magus. At his death he believed the title of Lord to be reachable within a few generations. His heir however proved to be the family's downfall.
Hetare's father was a heretic. While disagreeing with aspects of Mage Association policy was not uncommon Hetare's father derided the entire organization. He concluded that in their attempts to preserve magecraft over the centuries the Association had doomed it to stagnation and demise. In particular he blamed the obsession with genetics and lineage, believing the manipulations of mage family's reduced the whole populations potential for a few extra magic circuits. While the practice of isolation left what he believed were innumerable latent talents in the normal population unrealized. Hetare's father was not the first to reach that conclusion, and even had quiet agreement from surprising corners, but he compounded his radicalism with numerous political missteps . Eventually Yehua family was forced to flee, leaving the Association and the most of family's accrued holdings behind. Hetare has spent most of her adult life trying to rebuild the family position.
The Yehua family possesses a Sorcery Trait known as Amber Translation. A type of Mystic Eyes the potential to develop them exists within the family but has defied refinement. Less then half the heads of the family possessed them, and no possessor failed to be the head of the family. As possessors were superior scholars this became seen as a way to activate the eyes, forming a long tradition of scholarship in both magus and mundane area. More generally the family spells are dominated by Lightning, the strongest affinity in the line though Wind spells have been known.
MY HISTORY: // Hetare was born to Jacob and Sari Yehua in the family home in New York. Her mother was an third generation Chinese American physicist, her daughter is a spitting image of her. Her father was of course a magus. While her father was often absent in her early years but both were loving parent. Hetare earliest memories though are dominated by her grandfather. Having passed on his crest the old man was retired, but more then willing to help raise the next heir to the family name. She took from him a devotion to family and pride in her heritage. He died peacefully when Hetare was eight.
It was the first of several tragedies to befall the Yehua. Though as a young girl she of course was shielded from much of it, Jacob Yehua was proving a radical and dangerous head of the family. Without his father's restraining hand this became worse. Within two years he had made enough enemies within the association that he was targeted for elimination. Getting a hold of his research several families tried to have a Sealing Designation leveled. Not entirely without allies Jacob got word of this and hastily arranged a departure from the association. Stirring up questions about the obvious political motivations aroused fears from neutral factions that if it was leveled here the Sealing Designation might become a tool of political assassination used again and again. Becoming muddled the eventual compromise reached was that whatever the merit the motion for sealing held was irrelevant because Jacob Yehua had withdrawn from the Mage's Association.
The victory though was Pyrrhic. The controversy let the Yehua property be seized, the family fled mere hours before capture. Generations of work were taken and little remained. Fortunately the Yehua family was never as settled and isolated from the world as most magi though, and their bank accounts survived. What followed was several years on the run for the family while the compromise was reached. And the price of victory was that because he was as the Yehua were no longer members of the Association, they had no standing to have their former possessions returned.
Eventually the family home was returned, but gutted of all of value. Jacob would have no part of the place, he kept the family on the move. Paranoia ruled the head of the Yehua family, whether justified or not Hetare still does not know. In the middle of all of this Hetare's little sister Sarah was born.
With parents always busy responsibility for her little sister often fell on Hetare. Entering her teen years caring for a small child while on the run wasn't easy, but somehow the two of them survived. In a way Hetare grew to enjoy the constant travel, still insulated from many concerns. Her father removed that protection before long though, being on the run was no excuse to give over training as a magus. He pushed his older daughter hard. Sharing his views he detailed the ways (as he saw it) the Mage's Association had grown stagnant and corrupt and how he'd been wronged. Influence by her grandfather first Hetare never came to full agreement but kept this from her father. Sarah was not kept ignorant of the family's background but though he claimed to support the idea her father never began instructing Sarah in magecraft. He claimed to have something special in mind for the younger daughter.
Whatever that was never happened. When Hetare was fifteen her parents died in an car accident. She was left alone with her five year old sister. Through drive and lots of hard word Hetare endured. Eventually she returned to America and through a friend of her mother was able to be admitted to a small engineering college in New England. Since she was young Hetare had dove right into technology under the encouragement of her parents, and obtained a degree in computer science. She was undistinguished as a student, but in reality held back to pursue her own callings. First with her father and then on her own Hetare worked to craft a spell that would allow her to possess and control computer systems. While in college it became usable.
She joined the underground and online community of hackers, seeking to manipulate a world increasingly reliant on computerization to her own advantage. She succeeded. Able to bypass systems with seemingly no effort, to outsiders ignorant of magecraft she became known as Lady Black Box. Nobody could figure out how she worked, but she worked. In reality Hetare considered this something of a mistake, as she had left traces for others to find. Over the the long run she embraced the idea, using the identity as stalking horse to find ways to better conceal herself. And it gave her an opportunity for friends that new nothing of her, a safe haven as it were.
Lady Black Box committed numerous electronic pranks and crimes over the years. However the true identity of the hacker remains elusive. And Hetare's greatest achievements left no trace at all. The main upswing was money. Hacking numerous financial institutions Hetare made herself wealthy, even by the standards of mage families. On a lark she once found her own file on Interpol, to date the law has only a vague notion that a hacker by her handle exists, and no idea of about the salami slicing, inside trading, and theft Lady Black Box was truly responsible for.
While this improved Hetare and Sarah lot in life immensely for Hetare it lacked fulfillment. Her grandfather wouldn't accept the family as two girls living of easy money and neither could she. Further more in traveling around the world and the trials following her parents death Hetate had realized something. Her father was right. Mage society was headed for inevitable disaster unless it changed in very fundamental ways. Her father had been a fool though, and the more Hetare agreed with him the more she loathed how badly he had failed. She resolved to join the Association and gain acceptance as a student at the Clock Tower, for her family's history and for the Mage's Association's own good. Unfortunately the family's enemies had not died with her father, and the application has been held unanswered. Not even denial, just excuses. Hetare has spent much of her time especially in the past few years contacting magi and attempting to gain their support, alongside wandering the world with her sister.
Six months ago an offer came to her. She received a letter signed “Waver Velvet” who explained that he had been an acquaintance of her father and would consider helping her. There would be a price though. He argued that the factions that remembered the Yehua name would need something to convince them to stand aside. Waver Velvet suggested an event taking place in the city of Lucca as an apt demonstration of ability. The recreation of the Holy Grail War that he had participated in thirty-three years previous. Meeting with this Waver Velvet in England, and Hetare found he holds a title within the Clock Tower. Though suspicious of his motivations Hetare eventually agreed to go to Lucca.
MY GOALS: // Gain acceptance within the Association, further her research combining magecraft and technology, and over the long term change the way magus society operates before it stagnates to death. The Grail War is more an opportunity for other things, ultimate victory being almost beside the point.

- Amber Locket- An heirloom from Hetare's grandfather. A gold locket fronted by a large round piece of amber with unusual sparkles. Inside is a picture of her grandparents and Hetare has added one of her mother and sister on the other half of the locket. In reality it is a minor magus tool. Looking at the locket with Amber Translation reads an alchemically encoded hypnotic message producing a more serene state of mind. Increases concentration slightly and is good for stress relief.
- The Black Box- Hetare's custom built from scratch personal laptop. Loaded with applications to let Hetare manage and collect data along with several hacker assist programs. In addition to wireless and cable connections includes an accessory satellite phone connection allowing access to the internet from almost anywhere in the world. Notable applications include a database of legends to assist in identifying servant and a scanner program that identifies text allowing her digitize any book among others.
- Smartphone- Though she prefers the power of her laptop Hetare carries a late model smartphone containing many of the same capabilities.
- Mercedes-Benz S Class- Personal vehicle, a late model silver sedan. Mahogany wood work, leather heated seats, and a world class stereo system with noise canceling. Incorporates a full computer in the main console. Cellular internet connection. Can be remotely activated and a custom program enables it to drive somewhat via cameras and object sensors built to help assist in parking. In a city though its almost certain to hit something traveling any distance.
RANK: // None (Application has been “Pending” for over a decade now)
ELEMENT: // Lightning (Wind)
EXPERTISE: //
Hetare is undeniably talented but unorthodox for a magus. She has already crafted one spell to capitalize on the modern world and views this as only a start. The spells she knows for combat are focused on distance striking and offense.
Her signature spell and sorcery trait makes Hetare fearsome in the computer realm. She only perfected the spell by amassing skill in electronics and programming. Though the latter was fairly easy thanks to her Mystic Eyes. Without her magecraft she could still work as a programmer or software engineer. She is also a fair hand at repairing electronics and has assembled her own computer more then once.
Being able to boost her mental capacity and able to take in information at high speed Hetare is naturally suited to scholarly pursuits. A long tradition in the family. She was exposed to many languages deliberately while a small child with a fluid mind for such things and has cultivate this since.
Having been denied the traditional resources of a magi family Hetare has compensated with excellent researching and intelligence gathering ability to assemble what she lacked. Likewise she is skilled at deceptions, a skill she was force to develop to use her skill as a hacker.
MAGIC CIRCUITS: // The talented daughter of an old family with her crest Hetare has a maximum of 411 prana
SPELLS: //
Mystic Eyes of Translation (Amber Translation) (Sorcery Trait)
Rank: C
Cost: 1 Pr (per minute)
Range: N/A
Effect: Eyes called “Ultimate Readers” that enable high level processing of visualized information regardless of the form. Believed to operate directly on the concepts of information and meaning piercing the encoding of language, cypher, or form to process the data and intent directly. A page of text can be read at high speed with a mere glance, even capturing fine print. Cyphers and language barriers are meaningless before these eyes. Does not apply simply to text but any form of visualized information, grasping the underlying meaning. However not all forms of expression are equally precise which effects the result. When viewing a work of art for example no more then impressions are formed much like any normal viewer might reach. The opposite is the case when viewing a mathematical equation and the answer to a formula become clear instantly while errors become apparent quickly.
Applied to a human, one can read the proverbial “body language.” However few people are precise enough in their movements or gestures for this to yield more then vague information like a general emotional state. For example one cannot use the eyes as perfect lie detector, but might note nervousness or evasiveness. Noted to be more effective against the martial arts, as stances and moves hold a more defined purpose that may be read. This makes gives the eyes of some use in defense through enhanced reactions.
The potential exists in the Yehua family but despite centuries of cultivation this potential has only been realized under a dozen times. To some they might be considered Pure Eyes being purely perception related, however the effect is strong enough to be considered magecraft. Its applications in magecraft itself are somewhat limited though. What insight might be gained from watching a spell is largely redundant to a practiced magus. Reading a description of a spell does not allow it to be learned instantly, no matter how detailed. Caused the family to support a tradition of more mundane academic pursuit merged with magecrafting. In more recent years Hetare has discovered these eyes are of use in dealing with modern computers. Electronic circuits and computer programming languages being exceptionally precise they are naturally compatible with being read.
A single action as normal for Mystic Eyes. Classified as Amber under the Noble Colors system. Nicknamed “Amber Translation” for casual reference as a consequence.
Flare Bite (Lightning)
Rank: E
Cost: 5 Pr
Range: 20m
Effect: Prana is used to energize air in a limited area resulting in a ball-like mass of charged particles then fired at the target. A recreation of the phenomena of ball lightning, conceptually similar to (hypothetical) plasma weapons. In practical effect it is similar in to a small caliber handgun albeit the wounds it leaves are electrical burns.
Has existed within the Yehua family crest since the earliest generations and may be used as a single action spell.
Synapse Thought Driver (Lightning)
Rank: C
Cost: 10 Pr (initial) +3 Pr (per minute)
Range: N/A
Effect: A reinforcement type spell using the lightning element to enhance the body's electrochemical nerve impulses. Their nervous system and mental capacity are boosted to superhuman levels. Calculations and mental processing capacity dramatically increase. A user can perform complex math in their head in a moment that would normally require large amounts of number crunching on paper. Reaction time is accelerated and the world can be said to slow to a crawl. Overclocking the brain like this carries some risk though and can only be safely used for around ten minutes.
Enhanced control via reinforced nerves and reaction times make the caster far more agile and dexterous. While this spell is in effect the body can be pushed to its limits, stronger, faster, and far more able to endure pain. This effect is not superhuman but rather allows one to more fully to use ones current physical potential. A normal caster would be hard pressed by a dedicated professional athlete for example, as the athlete has increased their underlying potential well beyond the norm. Pushing the body in this way is also immensely fatiguing with considerable potential for injury from muscle strain, so care is generally taken to remain within the users physical norms. Even without excessive pushing more then five minutes of physical activity is dangerous. A similar effect applies to senses, but without the risks of strain as it is simply better processing.
Originally developed by the Yehua family to aid in academic pursuits. A scholar's spell with application in combat. Considered a natural compliment to Amber Translation allowing greater insight to be gained. Stabilized fully within the Yehua crest to the level of a single line spell.
Electron Ghost Body (Lightning/Consciousness Transfer)
Rank: B
Cost: 42 Pr (per hour)
Range: 1m
Effect: A type of consciousness transfer targeting modern technology allowing one to possess computer circuitry and thereby control the programs and data contained within. The caster injects a small highly compact electrical mass of prana formed conceptually as an electronic signal into the circuitry of a computer system. Creates a pseudo-familiar body connected to the consciousness of the magus.
With this the caster may perceive, visualize, and effect the information within the computer system. For an ordinary magus this would be worthless, a mass of information that could not be collated. With the use of Amber Translation and Synapse Thought Driver the raw information of the computer may be processed and understood. This is not the complete comprehension of the system but rather extracting necessary information like pulling books out of a large archive. The main purpose is the visualizing of a mental GUI, mirroring the actual interface. Other information can be accessed by scanning different parts of the code by diving back into the raw information and visualizing it to be read. A security feature might be scanned and analyzed to guess its password for example. Thus allowing the caster to cheat in ways that would be impossible for normal users, particularly security systems.
While a superior way to access computers directly it achieves its full potential when combined with a network connection. The caster may extend their prana connection through the network, allowing them to possess other systems remotely. Repeating the analysis of the new system allows for access, in effect hacking the system by being able to read and understand its own code. Strictly speaking this does not allow for the user to do anything absolutely impossible for a mundane operator, but they can bypass restrictions that would require impractical amounts of time or improbable amounts of luck to otherwise accomplish. The user also has no ability to break basic laws relating to computers, a system must be powered to be accessed, a hard-drive installed, a network connection active, software must be installed from a normal source, etc.
The caster's may freely switch between systems they have established access too or even their own body without breaking the spell effect. However dividing their attention this way is difficult, the reactions of their own body are slowed and senses dulled. While accessing a computer system the user is only aware of their body in the vaguest terms, receiving only minimal sensory input. While remotely accessing an active path back to the initial host system through operable systems is required at all times. Something such as a power loss along the path will sever it. Moving the caster's body outside the range of their primary host will also break the connection. Any serious injury will also qualify due to involuntary reflexes. Forcibly ending the spell like this will snap the caster back to their body, causing damage to the nerves leaving them in considerable to extreme pain. Though it is not known to be fatal
Another magus has almost no way to detect or disrupt this spell's use, unless present at the caster's physical location. For a system accessed remotely the caster is not "there" sufficiently to register or be effected. Use of this spell can leave traces however, a normal user of the system might find indications someone moved a file for example or uploaded a program, being a ghost does not mean one lacks fingerprints.
Becomes easier with repeated use as pathways become ingrained in memory and harder with unfamiliar systems. An unfamiliar primary host system might even need to be taken apart and studied before it could be properly targeted. At the other end a familiarity from long term repeated use can bypass Synapse Thought Driver for basic access of a computer with common OSes once a connection is established.
A revolutionary spell first formulated by Hetare's father to actualize the belief that magecraft and technology are not in opposition, and can be combined powerfully. Completed by Hetare herself as her signature spell. She is still exploring the limits. Currently a six line incantation that would be impossible for anyone but a Yehua to learn meaningfully.
High Light Fortress (Lightning)
Rank: A
Cost: 110 Pr +20 Pr (per second, optional)
Range: 50m
Effect: High Thaumaturgy similar in concept to the Flare Bite spell. The magus generates a small very temporary bounded field roughly two meters in diameter around them creating altered atmospheric conditions allowing for the mass generation of highly accelerated energized particles. The hypothetical 'particle cannon' seen in modern science fiction, though the spell predates such concepts among non-magi. The exotic nature of the spell means that the attack does not register as Lightning so some defenses do not apply. For example a defense that works by grounding out electricity would never come into play against this spell as the particle beam impact is more comparable to kinetic energy merely generated and directed by electromagnetic effects.
Manifests as a line of destruction dealing immense damage. Survival of a direct hit at full power is only found among strongest powers of the supernatural. The beam may be reoriented, by rotating on its origin point. The bounded field generating the beam lasts for only a second however by pouring more prana into the spell it can be extended causing further damage. The beam has a diameter of around twenty five centimeters, and may be rotated approximately thirty degrees a second. It may be generated from anywhere in the bounded field, though before the caster's hand or directly over them are most typical. While active Hetare herself is immobile.
Believed to have been developed by an early head of the Yehua family to blast holes in fortifications. Though passed through the crest it has remained challenging to master. Currently a full ten-count incantation.
PLAYER'S NAME: // Hetare Yehua
FACE CLAIM: // Tatsumiya Mana (Mahou Sensei Negima)
OTHER CHARACTERS: //
MISC. INFORMATION: //
Jacob Yehua's Research: Hetare knows nothing close to specifics but the research Jacob had used against him was his attempts to 'clone' his family crest without degrading the original. To enable (in theory) any family to raise as many full heirs as they choose to.
Took the form of trying to alter his youngest daughter while still in the womb, essentially adapting homunculus creation techniques. He actually succeeded, as far as creating a degraded faux-Crest with few circuits and lowered quality. However it contained Yehua family spells with the full stabilization from time much as a normal crest does. He also failed (though this wasn't clear until a few years later) since the construction of this crest was just converting existing natural magic circuits within Sarah while damaging them. So if the full crest was replicated it would drastically reduce the recipient's overall potential. Along with various other dead ends like even higher chances of rejection. Though having survived means Sarah in theory could receive the full family Crest from Hetare without rejection concerns.
Basically an initially promising idea with more drawbacks then expected making it a dead end. Since the creator is dead its lost anyways.
Sarah Yehua: Hetare's sister Sarah is not currently present in Lucca. She has the mentioned synthetic Crest, but neither sibling knows of this. Sarah knows a few basic bits of novice magecraft but that is all. Her faux-crest has not been activated, but the manipulations also brought out the family's mystic eyes.
