  • Ted is easily distracted by new and exciting things during his free time, and sometimes when he's trying to work. He tends to become incredibly focused on whatever new game, show, or anything else that happens to pop into his life. When the next equivalently awesome thing comes along, he almost immediately switches over to that. He tends to rant about whatever it is to every friend he has...and sometimes to complete random strangers.

  • Despite sometimes seeing the worst in the world, mostly on the news, Ted has always looked forward to a bright future. It is almost somewhat obnoxious at times, but Ted's inner drive for limitless hope is also inspiring in the worst of circumstances. This isn't as much as attributed to naivety as much as it is intentional on Ted's part. He sees no point on wasting time being cynical when there are far more enjoyable things to do.

  • Despite being a very animated person, Ted does have the ability to maintain his composure under some pretty extreme circumstances . Though the reason for this composer primarily stems from his inherent enthusiasm to begin with, it still works. In many ways, Ted tends to do this subconsciously as opposed to trying to keep himself under control. It generally appears as general cheerfulness as opposed to just pure calm however.

  • Once Ted gets his mind set on something, it's hard to get him to stop and do anything else. In fact, the one more insists, the more Ted digs in his heels. The best chance anyone has to change his mind is a reasonable argument at the get go, and the chances of that working are still slim. His drive to accomplish this task or experience whatever it is, is not done in a stupid or dangerous way...but he IS going to do what he's got his mind set on.

  • Ted gets along with mostly everyone, despite his hard headed determination and focus sometimes getting on people's nerves. Ted does his best to approach any new person with respect and tries to not let any outside opinions affect Ted's judgment of them. Though he's quick to realize when things may go sour, he generally gives people the benefit of the doubt.

MY FAMILY LINE: //[/color] The G'Rang family's origins are not totally clear, but they have claimed to have originated in Germany sometime in the 14th century under a different name, though the accuracy of this is debatable. What is known is they did migrate to the Americas in about 1735. Eventually, the family migrated down to New Orleans in roughly 1805, where which they have stayed to this very day. This is also about when their name officially changed to G'Rang, despite using it as a cover of sorts for years.

The G'Rang family is notable for one thing; they have absolutely no interested in dealing with the politics of the world as a whole. They will present themselves as need be so they don't appear to be hiding anything, and in fact willingly reveal their activities to others to get other families to leave them the hell alone. They have no desire to gain any real power over the world, and it is generally obvious to those around them. But they are rather fond of improving themselves.

Primarily focused on using Earth magic, specifically on Metals, the G'Rang families are architects and builders, with their main home being normal on the outside, but an elaborate and complex building within. The entire structure seems to dig into the earth, spreading its roots all over their property, and all attached to the grand leyline that rests beneath the earth there. It takes a great amount of discipline to hold such a structure together, as it has been built since the family first laid roots in New Orleans. The structure doesn't appear to have any effect on the outside world, and despite its complexity, appears harmless.

The family occasionally do help other mages with their building endeavors, being experts of a sort on the subject. They have earned a degree of trust over the years, coming off as more like a set of contractors than a legitimate family. They do however seek out marriages and other strong families to bolster their own bloodline while focusing heavily on improving and purifying their raw ability from within. Ultimately though, it has always been the family's head goal to do one thing; turn their small home and fortress into a literal Tower of Babel, to stretch to the heavens and beyond, giving them power over all they see. This is a secret held only by the family heads however...

MY HISTORY: //[/color] Ted was the second son of the current generation of the G'Rang family. Given the family tends to focus entirely on their first son and daughter born to each set of parents, he was quickly given up for adoption under the name Galange instead. He was adopted by Rory and Alice Maudline seven days later. His adopted parents always made sure to inform him that he was adopted, to avoid any unnecessary drama later in life.

His younger life was rather carefree, though Ted did develop a rather brute force personality, albeit a more cheerful version of it. He eventually was joined by a younger sister named Caroline, who was also adopted. Rory worked as a detective in the locale police force, with Alice a somewhat famous novelist. Regardless of his living situation, Ted had a happy childhood, filled with love, random obsessions from time to time, and other...happy stuff.

As he grew into his teenage years, his weird focuses began to turn into actual talents as opposed to minor fascinations, and began to seriously think about a career in engineering, as his ability to make different objects work together in machinations became rather central to his life. Despite this, he was somewhat bored. Ted always felt that things could be so much more...or at least more exciting.

Maybe some dragon slaying, or Cyborgs or something. Regardless, being an engineer was cool, but being an action hero would be so much more...epic.

Ultimately, Ted got accepted to the state college, and began working on a Mechanical Engineering degree. During late in his sophomore year, Ted was given the opportunity to study abroad in Italy. With a chance at an adventure...or at least a new experience opening up in front of him, Ted decided to take this opportunity to see what incredible things could happen on the other side of the globe.

- Cooking - One day, Ted watched some cooking show on TV, and got obsessed. Within two years, he went from an average teenager who barely knew how to operate a microwave, to an eerily talented cook. Despite not having the original drive he had a few years back, Ted still practices and improves himself every day just by making dinner.

- Improvisational Mastery...or Something - With a combination of his Mechanical Engineering Major, fond memories of watching old copies of the show MacGuyver, and a generic obsession with random "Build This" videos on youtube, Ted ganged a knack for being able to put together and improvise effective tools and contraptions. Though, for him this only relates to things mechanically working together. His knowledge of
chemicals and other things are limited to basic knowledge, so isn't like the "original".

- Mental Trivia Database - If there's anything Ted is an absolute master of, it is borderline useless information. A true child of the internet, Ted is easily swayed by tangential learning in any form, and will quickly go look something up if he does not know what it is. And that thing will lead to another thing, and so on. Because of this, Ted tends to remember and retain useless data almost better than anything that he may actually need, and can recite it and perhaps use it at will. Generally though, this talent of his is more annoying than it is helpful.
