- A determined man of loyalty and honor
- Just like the stories about him said, Benkei was considered as man that shows great loyalty and honor. He devotes himself to those (or the one) that deserves his respect and loyalty, such as Minamoto no Yoshitsune who was his previous lord. His loyalty went as far as defending a bridge against Yoshitsune's brother's army alone with only his naginata, never stopping, to allow his lord to kill his family and finally commit seppuku, only to die under a rain of arrows while still standing.
- Battle Lust
- For a man like Benkei, fighting was a very huge part of his life. He was the man who stood guard at the same bridge, day and night, fighting with every warrior that tried to cross it. He had a thousand battles on the Gojo bridge and won 999 in a row, confiscating his opponent's weapon at the same time. On his 1000th duel, he lost against Yoshitsune, making it his first and only defeat. Even now, Benkei looks for a worthy opponent to fight against and usually uses violence to solve a problem, with a few exceptions.
- Boisterous
- One of the many traits of Benkei was that he had a huge heart. Out of battle, Benkei is a fun guy to be around, laughing loudly, usually drinking with his lord and talking about some of his exploits, deeds or stories about his battles. Although he can be a little obnoxious at times.

STRENGTHS: // Benkei: Hard-ass warrior with a naginata. Living a life of battles, Benkei's strengths lie in his physical prowess. As he is an extremely endurant man, he does not seem to mind any long battles unlike other servants. Benkei is strong and hits hard. He has guts, uses his instincts and never backs down from a fight. Underneath his rude appearance, Benkei is a loyal and honorable man that will never abandon his lord or master.
WEAKNESSES: // Again, this is Benkei, the hard-ass warrior. Even with all his strength and endurance, Benkei is a little slow for a Lancer. He handicaps himself during battles (having bells on the tips of his hair is NOT an advantage) and he hates it when he has to look for an opponent who is always running. Personnality-wise, Benkei is loud and obnoxious, some traits that people would dislike.

MY LEGEND: //
MY HISTORY: //
It all started with a man. A man, a future father, who brutally raped the daughter of a blacksmith. As expected, the woman was impregnated from this man's seed and gave birth to a child. However, it was not after the ordinary nine months of gestation that the baby was born. The baby decided to go through history by refusing to be brought to the outside world, making him grow for another nine months in the womb of its mother. The baby was brought forth from the entrails of its mother after eighteen months of nausea and pain that were brought from the pregnancy. With the body of an ogre, a demon, one of God's sin, a boy was born with wild hair and a grin that looked like someone cut his cheeks open to carve this endless sea of teeth came forth, killing his mother from the pain.
That, was how Benkei was given birth to. However he had no name for now.
During his youth, Benkei, monster child, was a troublemaker and was extremely rowdy. His reputation, mixed with his appearance, gave birth to a nickname: Oniwaka. His foster parents, tired of him, sent him into the custody of a cloister. Even then, the monks eventually got tired of Oniwaka, and sent him away to another temple, making the growing child know lots of temples and monasteries.
At the age of seventeen, Oniwaka, now an extremely huge man that towered the tallest of the tallests, got in trouble with the monks of the temple he lived and trained into. He decided to quit the temple and joined a wandering sect of bandits monks, the Yamabushi. As a member of the sect, Oniwaka gave himself a name, Saito Musashibo Benkei, and began standing guard on the bridge of Gojo, challenging every passing swordmen that tried to pass him. For each battle he won, Benkei took the loser's sword as an objective to collect a thousand swords for the Buddha.
One night, one evening, as Benkei was standing guard, proudly, manly and with his huge stature on the Gojo bridge, a young child (at least Benkei thought it was) appeared playing a flute. The young child owned a katana that had the most beautiful sheath of all. Benkei wanted that katana to complete his collection and tried to bully the child into giving it to him. The child only said a few words:
"So it is you, the sword thief."
A fight ensued between Benkei and the child. Swift, agile and precise, the child jumped around Benkei as he unsheated his katana. It was katana against naginata. Benkei against a simple child. Benkei unleashed his wrath upon his opponent who danced around the giant as if he was nothing but a stepping stone. It was a lost battle for Benkei, who waited for the final strike to come and finish him like he wanted.
The strike did not come. His life was saved.
The child presented himself as Minamoto no Yoshitsune, son of the warlord Minamoto no Yoshitomo. Benkei lost to him and was amazed by the young man's skills. It was the mother of all fights, the one fight that made Benkei's blood boil as if his blood became the sun itself. Prosterning himself in awe like he was in front of the greatest god of all, like he was wearing a thousand moons on his back from the sheer presence of Yoshitsune, Benkei swore something to the young man.
"Please let me live the rest of my life by your side my lord!"
And thus began a life of wars and battles for Benkei, at the side of his lord. He fought the Genpei War against the Taira clan. As the war grew, and the Taira clan was eventually getting defeated, Minamoto no Yoritomo betrayed Yoshitsune and sent his armies to kill him.
For two years, Yoshitsune and his loyal servant Benkei ran from Yoritomo as outlaws, facing many hardships that were solved with cleverness from the Benkei's part and/or violence. In the end, no matter how loyal and strong you are, your life will end.
Yoshitsune retired to the inner keep of the castle to commit seppuku when the both of them were encircled by the enemy at the castle of in the castle of Koromogawa no tate. To buy his lord some time to prepare for the ritual, Benkei fought on the bridge to protect Yoshitsune. It was an epic battle made of blood, carnage and crushed bodies as they tried to get past the huge Benkei as he completely destroyed the adversary with his mighty naginata. Fear struck in the enemy's body, sending shivers as what they were looking at was a demon, an ogre worthy of his nickname. Time passed, and eventually the opposite army retreated and prepared the bows.
They shot with all their might.
Benkei took the first waves of arrows as if they were nothing but moskitoes trying to bite through his armor and continued to fight the fools who tried to bring the giant down. The arrows flew again, and the enemy gave up on going to close-combat with the monster that was Benkei.
Benkei looked behind him, and knew that his lord finally succeeded. His lord, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, finally regained his honor by cutting open his stomach, letting the organs flows to the ground, blood stained his blade as his katana cutted through his stomach. His lord commited seppuku splendidly and finally died with honor regained.
That was when Benkei stood there. The colossus felt his life was over and stood there, taking waves after waves of arrows, and one last tear that held every inch of courage, honor, strength and sheer manliness slid on his cheek. His breathing stopped, his eyes were looking at the enemy's straight in the eye, sending one last shiver of fear.
Saito Musashibo Benkei died standing. His dead body was still being shot arrows at as a last act of defiance, never falling down. His duty was over, so was his life. It was later that the enemy noticed that he died some time ago.
This was how Benkei lived his life and died. All that's left to remind people of him are his legends and his lord's katana whose hilt was wrapped around by Benkei's very own Sohei white headcowl.
MY GOALS: // Benkei has no goals except testing his strength against the other servants. [/blockquote]
[li]Benkei's unnamed Naginata
- Benkei's trusted naginata that he received during his training. Contrary to most warriors who name their weapons, Benkei did not name this weapon. This weapon never lost its sharpness and durability over the years the huge man used it. It remains his favorite weapon.
[/li][li]Minamoto no Yoshitsune's Katana.
- The blade that would have completed Benkei's collection of a thousand weapons if he hadn't lost to Yoshitsune that night. This katana has a sheath with the color of golden, which is the complete opposite of what the sword is looking like now: A rusty old sword, yet unbreakable and sharp due to its material. As a servant, Benkei does not know why he possesses this weapon and how, since this katana's previous owner commited seppuku with this very same sword. Might be the necessary item to successfuly summon him or Minamoto no Yoshitsune. However, Benkei cannot use this sword because he haven't used this sword during his past life, it is mainly for the sake of decoration.
NOBLE PHANTASM: //
[/li][li]Oniwaka
Rank: C
Type: Support
Max. Targets: Self
- Benkei's very own body that deserves the title of Oniwaka, the Ogre Child. This body was what made warriors afraid of going to close-combat with him and was what made Benkei a hard-to-kill man. As this Noble Phantasm is Saito Musashibo Benkei's body itself, it is considered as passive, meaning it is always active.
Being born with the supposed body of an ogre, Benkei's whole body, anatomy and organs themselves are extremely hard, and thus have incredible resistance against physical attacks like swords or lances, weapons or even Noble Phantasms that mainly use strength as a main factor. Slashing him would only make a scratch on his ogre-like body, and a full power swing would make a bigger scratch or so commonly called, the slash.
Arrows are the weak point of the Oniwaka body, since Benkei was killed under a rain of arrows. However it does not mean that he will immediately die upon receiving an arrow or get more damage than usual. Powerful arrows will enter in Benkei's body, but less deep than they should usually be, and weak arrows will only do less damage because of the skin. But the point is that one of the sure ways to harm Benkei is using arrows.
Even though he is damaged, Benkei ignores any hinderance the damage caused, meaning he will never slow down and never fall. Oniwaka only applies for physical damage.
[/li][li]Last Stand
Rank: B
Type: Defensive
Range: 500m
Max. Targets: 500 targets
- A bounded field created by Benkei. The bounded field is a representation of the battle on the bridge that leads to the castle of Koromogawa no Tate, where Benkei defended against an army and eventually died to buy some time so his lord could commit seppuku to regain his honor. Upon entering this bounded field, the trespasser must pass through Benkei to get to his or her objective by passing on the bridge.
[/li][li]One Thousand Weapons
Rank: A+
Type: Anti-Unit
Max. Targets: 1
Range: 1
- The almost thousand weapons that Benkei confiscated during the time he guarded the Gojo bridge before he fell under the services of Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Using the 999 weapons he stole plus his very own weapon, Benkei unleashes a strike worth a thousand strikes, or to be more precise, Benkei only has to slash, thrust, dice or pierce the target with an undefendable attack. Once this attack is given and the target is hit, a thousand slashes will appear on the body of the target.
[/li][li]
Rank: E
Type: Support
Max. Targets: Self
- The death of Benkei. This Noble Phantasm states that whatever Benkei's death will be, he will die standing up. No other option. Benkei will regenerate his legs and body (If it was destroyed by whatever powerful thing) to die standing up. You made him explode? Regeneration. He will die dramaticly, standing and not moving. He will vanish some time later like the other servants.

[/li][li]Mystic Face of Fear/Terror D+
- The visage of true fear. Those who gaze upon this face will feel a sense of dread coming upon them, or depending on the will of that person, will be scared. The Mystic Face of Fear is somewhat considered as a curse. However it is not, and this face is obtained at birth in the case of Benkei. Those who see this face will have be given a beautiful minus modifier to their stats and feel fear if they do not have the Bravery skill.
Resistance to this Mystic Face goes like the following:
Experienced magi and servants with Bravery: Feeling a sense of dread and fear upon seeing the face. No penality.
Average magi and servants without Bravery: The sense of dread is stronger and feels the need to escape the owner of the face. The penality applies. The minus modifier appears.

MISC. INFORMATION: // The Standing Death of Benkei is obviously a joke, but can be a hidden decoy () as a junk NP. Is one of the MANY Japanese (not so) heroic spirits.
