Emma's command seal.
- Candid
- If Emma doesn't like you, she'd say it to your face without apologizing. Conversely, if something strikes her fancy, she wouldn't hesitate to express it either. Although being honest at times is good for character, being honest all the time tends to make one more than a little obnoxious. Consequently, she may across as particularly rude, especially to those who don't know her well. If one of her traits is going to get her killed in the war, being too straightforward for her own good would be at the top of the list.
- Quick Thinker
- The reason Emma went on to go to do illustration and not something more prestigious wasn't because she didn't have the grades. Emma's actually quite a bright young woman, with a sharp mind to match her acid tongue. Despite usually committing her intelligence to making cynical remarks and witty comments, she's proven to be quite fast on her feet too. In other words, if she's offending you, she probably not doing it by accident, and attempting to catch her off-guard in a verbal stand-off is almost as easy as wrestling a bear.
- Hates losing
- Not to be mistaken with 'loves winning', not that she doesn't like that too. In short, she just doesn't want to admit that somebody else is actually better than her. Unless aforementioned person is 100% Emma-certified to be a decent person, and she can count the number of people like that on one hand. So basically expect her to get into the most ridiculous competitions with the most unlikely people for rather strange things. As an upside, she now has a long list of useless skills racked up. On the down side, she is a particularly sore loser. Fortunately, or unfortunately, she's not really the type to bear a grudge.
- Cold-hard cynic
- One of Emma's most defining, and contradictory traits. It must have something to do with her generation, or the way she grew up with hardly any parental guidance, but she is extremely disillusioned about people, and humanity as a whole. Nobody knows where the bitterness comes from, but everyone who knows Emma agrees that it hangs over all their interactions with her like a heavy cloud. It's not that she doesn't want to believe in the inherent goodness, or whatnot, of humanity. It's just that she can't find it in her to. Being exposed to the even more cutthroat world of the Magi probably wouldn't help.
- Practical
- Practical means practical. Emma is a pragmatist and a realist. She doesn't get caught up in fanciful plans, and she doesn't shy away from less than wholesome activities if it gets her to where she wants. Usually making back-up plans in case things don't work out as planned, Emma is prepared for setbacks. Just not failure.
LIKES: // Logic, Winning, being alone
DISLIKES: // Apathy, Sloth, Losing, Idiocy
STRENGTHS: // Her only asset within the entire war would probably be her mind. That, and she must be one of the only competitors in the whole war who wouldn't be baffled about such things like achieving a secure internet connection.
WEAKNESSES: // Having practically no magus training, and in the war as much as by chance as by design, it seems safe to say that everything else about her is a weakness.

MY FAMILY LINE: //
Amaranta Bastillo doesn't even bear the true name of her family's line anymore, the magic in her family having supposedly died out two generations before her time. The Scifulissi family used to be an extremely prestigious line of magi, being over nine-hundred years old, spanning over a dozen generations. However, due to mysterious circumstances, the line suddenly died out in just one generation, leaving the entire family with nothing more than an intangible legacy of past greatness.
During the nine-hundred or so years of the Scifulissi family's existence, they have been based primarily in Italy, although at times moving to such countries as France. As a result, the family has a rich European background, but as a consequence never really had a solid foothold in any land, despite their status. Consequently, it was easy for them to drop straight back into obscurity once their power waned.
To be specific, it was in Emma's grandfather's generation that the Scifulissi line all but disappeared. It might've been a hiccup in the genetics pool, or some odd mutation, but Antonio Scifulissi, the only child of his parents, was born without any magic circuits at all. raised his daughter without teaching her about their lost legacy. Consequently, when she married into the completely mundane Bastillo family, Antonio could only watch in despair as the Scifulissis blinked out of existence.
Prior to their sudden decline, the Scifulissi had wildly varying magic circuits in all it's members, with one magus within the family having a monstrous 35 circuits with a PrC of 18, to just 16 circuits with a PrC of 15 in the very next generation; still high, but with only a fraction of the generation before it. However, in general the family has consistently high prana output.
Similarily, the Scifulissi family could never decide what sort of magic it was focusing on either, instead each generation studying something different. Perhaps, in retrospect, it is not all that unexpected that such a volatile line died out purely by chance.
It is unknown whether Emma's mother also posessed magic circuits, or if the magus heritage merely skipped past Emma's grandfather. However, it can be said that the circuit-quality of the family has certainly taken a hit since her grandfather's generation, one of the main reasons most likely that the family has since married into two generations of non-magi.
MY HISTORY: //
Like her mother, Emma was raised without any knowledge of magic, and grew up completely grounded in 'reality', away from the politics of Clock Tower and mages. However, considering that somewhere along the way, her mother divorced her father, managed to drink herself into a stupor, then kill herself on the road afterwards, it probably wasn't quite as nice of a childhood as it could've been, magus or no. If asked about it, she'd tell you it really was nothing special. Emma doesn't really dwell on it.
However, as a result, she was raised by her eccentric grandfather. Which is to say she practically raised herself while taking care of a old man in the advanced stages of Alzheimers, juggling taking care of both of them using only her grandfather's meagre pensions and her schoolwork. Part of the reason why she took illustration as a course was because it was less time-intensive, after all.
It was, however, only a few months before the beginning of the grail war that her grandfather truly began to act up, spouting such words like 'magus', and 'grail war'. It was most likely the man's Alzheimers' talking, but for the most part, Emma humoured her only close relative by listening to him, discussing 'magic', and even occassionally perusing what her grandfather claimed was a dusty old magic tome.
That was the first time that Emma had any real exposure at all to the thing called 'magic'. Her afternoons in the old study with her grandfather couldn't even be called real study. It was more like indulging her grandfather's nonsensical ramblings. Although she found some of the texts interesting, she also assumed they were fiction, not even trying to commit them to memory.
It was only recently that Antonio pushed a particularly old tome into Emma's hands, feebly commanding her to 'participate in the grail war'. Grounded firmly in reality, the notion that the magic that existed in her grandfather's mind was anything more than foolish disease-induced flights of fancy did not occur to her at all.
MY GOALS: //
Just to survive. Despite how it may seem, Emma is the type to deal with things as they come, and has never made any long-term plans with her life.
[/blockquote]
Tote bag: It can carry almost anything, up to and including fencing-sticks, encyclopaedias, and baskets of fruit.
Drawing kit: Well, Emma is and illustration student, and she's pretty dang good at it too. The only thing that she can't seem to fit into her kit seems to be an easel.
Swiss army knife: Kept in her pocket. You never know when such a thing might come in handy.
M-45 MEUSOC: Emma was fairly excited about going to the range once she hit her eighteenth birthday, but like all things, shooting got old after a few months. Most likely forgotten about after she dropped the sport, and left lying around somewhere in her home afterwards, it seems to have suddenly come in handy again during the grail war. Although she was quite a marksman during her practice shooting, hitting live targets is something she hasn't done yet. She carries two magazines with seven rounds each to be safe, along with the gun fully loaded. Because she still has her license, Emma's in no danger of running out of magazines.
Other: Emma usually carries around something to draw in, a book to read, and other daily items that simply aren't interesting enough to get their own entry, such as her wallet, phone, and watch.
RANK: // N/A
ELEMENT: // Metal/Ice
EXPERTISE: //
Quick learner: A combination of natural intelligence and studiousness, Emma catches onto most things quickly. It might also contribute to the fact that no one thing has held her attention for more than a few months, however.
Tactician: Emma's good at making plans, arranging for the unexpected and luring opponents into traps. It might be a carry-over from her chess-playing days, but it's completely natural for Emma to be formulating solutions for situations in her head to idle away time.
Observant: Notices the little things; the things that most people would probably overlook. Part of the reason why it's difficult to catch her off guard, she's always aware of her surroundings, and when they change. Such things like paper snuck into door hinges and extra pens on her desk she will catch without fail. As a result, she always knows when people have gone through her things.
MAGIC CIRCUITS: // 20 circuits with a quality of 6 PrC each, giving her a total output of 120Pr. Unfortunately, at the moment, Emma's only able to utilize less than an eigth of that amount with any sort of effectiveness.
SPELLS: // Note: Emma has knowledge of how these spells work, and is actually familiar with the theory behind them. This doesn't mean that she'll be quite as effective as applying the knowledge.
Shrapnel
Rank: E
Cost: 2PR
Range: 20m, straight-line
A single-verse spell where hard, dart-shaped objects are formed via. the moisture in the atmosphere, and launched towards a target. The higher the humidity in the atmosphere, the easier the water particles would be to gather. On a similar note, the lower the temperature, the easier it is for the ice-shards to keep their shape. As an example, it would be almost impossible for a novice magician to use this spell in the middle of the desert, but also just as improbable to use in Antarctica, where there is only an 0.03% average humidity rating.
The missles generated are considered mundane missles with minimal magical properties, but are launched at a speed of 300m/s, giving the spell the effectiveness of a weak gun.
Mind's eye
Rank: E
Cost: 4PR
Range: Line-of-sight
A spell where the image of a place is fixed into the caster's mind, down to the smallest detail. Pretty much useless in combat situations, and lack of improved vision makes this spell about as useful as a magic camera.
