Adam Wells
"Once, my mum told me that the most important thing in the world was to be happy, the second most important was magecraft of course. She died a week after telling me that, so I had a party. She’s probably happier getting reincarnated anyway, people can get too old these days."

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES:// His cheerful disposition and continuous wide smile makes him stand out in a crowd. Also, some people may recognize him from some of his actor roles.
[/ul][/blockquote]
[li]Happy
- He always tends to have a smile on his face, and while some grumble about him “acting” it, actually the smile is very real. He tries to turn even trivial life things as some sort of great entertainment, when he moves he makes a game of where he steps. Even in the life-or-death situation he is in now, he doesn’t fear the possibility of death and makes it his mission to enjoy every second of this war. However his happiness has a darker side to it, as sometimes his wish to amuse himself can end with destruction. Usually he keeps this to a minimum though, as he doesn't like seeing unhappy people that widespread destruction usually causes.
[/li][li]Quick-thinker
- While he isn’t exactly the best at planning moves in advance, he has the tendency to be quick on his feet and mind when the situation demands it, able to quickly come up with plans to get out of messes such as an enemy master bearing down on him, or his meal about to burn in the oven.
[/li][li]Indomitable
- Once he sets a goal, he never gives up on it. When he fights, he exerts everything he has. When others try to crush his spirit, he never lets the smile fade. He refuses to let anything stand in his way and quite simply has to be killed or every limb broken to be stopped.
[/li][li]Intelligent
- Despite the previous, he isn’t an idiot. He tries to make sure the goals are realistic and always thinks before going into a battle, even if he doesn’t think of a plan first. He is good at weighing pros and cons of things such as Servants and tends to be careful when it’s possible. It’s only when it seems being careful isn’t an option that he goes into the “indomitable” state.
[/li][/ul]
LIKES://Happy people, A challenge, A good Performance (be it a movie, play, video game, TV show etc.)DISLIKES://Unhappy people (for a short time, he then can turn it into a challenge to make them happy, and then enjoy it).
STRENGTHS://He is an easy person to make friends with, so long as you have no intention of taking advantage of him (he has a “sixth sense” for that sort of thing coming from his time as an actor). He is kind and caring, and never lets anything get him down. He faces every threat with the same steel-hard determination that people laughingly suggest “makes him like quite a few of the better-known Servants. His spells are very good for their low prana cost and, coupled with his die-hard will, gives him amazing survivability.
WEAKNESSES://Adam tends to make things up as he goes along; he doesn’t really have a particular plan for winning the Grail War, and his constant happiness can get on the nerves of some people who would be further infuriated when asked to “cheer up!”. If he was given the chance to quickly and easily eliminate an opposing master or servant, he would most likely not since it “wouldn’t be fun”. Also, his spells, while amazing considering their low cost, have no particularly destructive or widespread destruction spells in his arsenal, aside from his countering spell which relies on his opponent. Also, despite what his personality may appear, he does have a darker side to him, sometimes his entertainment can come from destructive methods and while he always seems the same, the destructive or supportive side can change almost in an instant, this makes befriending him completely difficult, although he usually manages to avoid hurting friends for entertainment.

MY FAMILY LINE://The Wells Mage family line is relatively new, only 350 years old, and rather unknown for it hasn't done much of note. They left Britain to Australia soom after it was discovered to leave the shadow of the Clock Tower and make a name for themselves without the leering faces and hostility of elder families of magus. A new land was a fresh start and they had the potential to spread their influence into the new continent before it became more popular.
The Wells family has an average of 8 prana per circuit and 22 circuits for a total of 176 prana, their time in Britain showed them what they could be up against and they work hard to be prepared. Chance also seems to have assisted them, for a young family they have exceptional abilities.
The motto of the Wells is to be “surprising”, they don’t seem to have a genetic disposition towards any particular element or abilities and constantly try to “stretch the boundaries” of known magic, stemming from the discovery of a cheap and amazingly effective spell that the creator of it deemed a "miracle", the spell was however a closely guarded secret, as they figured once others had the spell they may figure out how to use it to greater effect, especially families with higher prana. Trying to create new and different spells, most of which don't conform to the better-known elements, they tend to have a large family and actually teach all their children magic even though the Crest can only be given to one, mainly because trying to create new spells tends to have a high rate of injuries and/or death. So far no blood feuds have come up and most of the family seem content with what they know, they take care to bring their children up without fear of death or envy of what others have. So far the Wells family know mostly only low-level spells of their own creation (a mix of offensive, defensive, and support spells) with one or two exceptions, but in the centuries to come, they may become a powerful bloodline. And indeed, Adam himself may be the start of the Wells family being recognized.
MY HISTORY://Adam Wells was born into a big family. Most often his house would have a family relative staying at the house for one reason or another.
Brought up to consider death a 'friend' rather then a companion like most Magus do, he always seemed happy when family members died, mainly from spell creation attemps gone wrong, and almost died himself several times from the aftermaths of such spells, in one case suffering burns that would most likely have scarred him for life if not for a member if his family being a proficient healer. The strangest way he almost died was at the age of eight by climbing up a mountain and considering it too boring to go down, only surviving because he found entertainment chasing a kangaroo all the way down the mountain.
He was the middle child of five children, but in the end he showed the most ingenuity and the most quick-thinking skill, as well as a slightly larger then average prana capacity then most of their family, made him the new “heir”. However such a large family needed money, and Adam discovered a talent for acting. That, combined with his moderately good looks, got him parts in quite a few shows and movies, including most prominently the main character in the movie “Load off the Camel’s Back”, a movie about him as a jaded ex-special forces agent tricking a large group of people into warring for their independence to get rid of some politicians who had some dirt on methods he did to acquire information in a previous war, it was one of the few times you could see him without a smile.
Despite his acting, he always kept studying magic and keeping himself entertained, although some of the methods of his entertainment were questionable, such as simply watching a fire he may or may not have started in the props room because it was "fun". Still, nothing was traced back to him and he became popular on the set for his advicing and cheerfullness no matter what the problems they encountered producing the films.
He was taught all his family knew from numerous members, and even went back to the Clock Tower for three years. He was considered a rank 7 but only because most of his magic style wasn’t traditional, and never really went well with anyone there.
After learning as much as he wanted from there, he decided a vacation would probably be for the best, and decided to go to Italy. Ending up where the Grail War was and being chosen to participate was completely by accident (well, on his account anyway...), but he is going to make the most of it.
MY GOALS://Mainly he is just in it because he was dragged in, and he wants to make it entertaining. But he would also like to be a good representative of his family and put them on the map, and would most likely wish "for the whole world to be happy" if he got his hands on the Grail.
[/blockquote]
Australia hasn’t been particularly touched by most magus, except a few Aboriginals who learned magic very differently. It turns out they had some artefacts of their own as well, quite a few of which were quietly collected by the Wells family. A simply unadorned wooden mask that, when worn and thinking of a person, makes the wearer look like that person. The illusion can be easily bypassed by any magus who notices something amiss with the person, but even if they see through the illusion, the user’s face is concealed by the mask.
RANK://7th (although his skill would be at a higher level, however his unorthodox techniques aren't highly regarded at the Clock Tower, especially since his ace spell he kept to himself).
ELEMENT://His short time in the Clock Tower determined his elements were Earth and Water.
EXPERTISE://
Good judge of character:
Adam can almost instinctively tell whether people are trustworthy or not within seconds of seeing their behaviour, being an actor himself he knows subtle signs that show when others are acting as well.
Tolerance towards pain:
No matter how much agony he is in, he keeps optimistic and smiles at whatever chance he gets, to the degree that he may indeed have a slight case of masochism. Either way, it seems his body will give out far earlier then his mind will, shutting down to try and eliminate the pain.
Fighter:
Adam has decent skill as a physical fighter, while not a martial art expert he knows how to throw a good punch, kick, and headbutt Combined with his natural pain tolerance and assisting spells, he is capable of fighting most magus quite well in hand-to-hand combat, and is more then enough for any ordinary person.
MAGIC CIRCUITS:// has 22 circuits capable of 9 prana per circuit, giving a maximum potential of 197 prana
SPELLS://
Mind Numbing Pain (Unknown, possibly water)
Rank: E
Cost: 3 Pr (instant action)
Range: 20m
Effect: A simple yet effective spell created by the Wells family early in their creation, a form of curse which appears as a baby blue orb that is quickly fired. When it hits a person, they feel agonizing amounts of pain that quickly travel towards the brain. In most cases, this keeps a magus from casting spells or thinking coherently, indeed if they’re not use to pain they could even keel over. The spell only lasts two seconds however, and does no lasting damage on its own. An interesting property of this spell is that it can be fired from any finger or toe of the magus, although Adam usually uses his index finger anyway.
Terrifying Devastating Force (Unknown, possibly earth)
Rank: A(C)
Cost: 50(8)Pr (five-line)
Range: 30m
Effect: A deceptive spell that appears to most magus to be an A ranked attack spell, but is in fact D ranked. Holding up the palms of both his hands a large orb of prana appears between them. Bringing it back and chanting the spell’s name, he fires it, but most of the prana is in fact reabsorbed into the body. The spell actually deals no damage on its own, but actually absorbs any spell that it strikes and redirects it to the target. Since the opponent most likely doesn’t know this, they will most likely try to strike with a higher level spell or a defensive one, at which point the blast will absorb the spell and strike the opponent with it. Even a defensive spell will be redirected and strike the opponent like a solid wall. The best way to describe it is a sort of prana magnet that takes any form of prana in its way, even if it has already been turned into flame wind etc. and hit’s its target along with whatever it has absorbed.] Technically can be used as a one line spell, but Adam usually pretends it's a five-line spell to make it seem more powerful and give the opponent more time to counter with their own spell.
Touch of Pain (Unknown, possibly water)
Rank: [D]
Cost: 10-12Pr (depending on the amount of his body he chooses to infuse with this ability) (one-line)(wears off after twelves hours, but can be deactivated by a mental command
Range: N/A
Effect: A form of elemental reinforcement, the user is able to infuse his body to not only make it stronger and more durable, but in this case inflict with any form of impact with the opponent "Pain". The pain spreads about ten centimetres diameter from where the strike occurs, further strikes in roughly the same position can cause the pain to accumulate and if it is a limb, make that limb worthless simply because it can only respond to pain rather then any signals from the brain. If the strike is on the head and two strikes are managed in quick succession, even a reinforced person will quickly have their body shut down as the pain becomes too much for their system to bear and render them unconscious.
The improvements to the body by this ability are limited, a far lesser degree then regular reinforcement. A normally reinforced person will most likely still have more strength and speed, unless they were very inferior then Adam to begin with.
Theatric Explosion (Unknown, possibly earth)
Rank: C
Cost: 8-20 prana
Range: 15m
Effect: A deceptive spell, it shoots a small orb at about six kilometers an hour that can be detonated by a mental command (more then one can be used, but they must all be detonated at once) or on impact. It isn't so much a "detonation" as a sudden repulsion of mana that can be quite destructive, denting steel and shattering bricks. However there is a catch, the destruction has no effect on living organisms, or indeed anything that can naturally contain prana (jewels, people, servants, specially prepared objects) due to the mana simply flowing in and out of the body. Items which must be more forcefully implanted with prana by a magus (most other objects) are not safe. An object that has already been prepared to receive prana would be, however.
The "orb" really isn't anything other then Adam's prana being used to manipulate surrounding mana, covered by a small amount of prana that "balances" it out, similar to two magnets of opposite polarity coming together. The mental command can dissipate the surrounding 'control' layer, or it can simply hit something, the layer is fragile, only really able of going through water at it's best, any harder substance will break it and cause the explosion.
Pain is Joyous (Unknown)
Rank: D
Cost: Initial 5 Prana, 1 prana per five seconds after. (one-line)
Range: N/A
Effect: The spell that started the entire Wells family. According to their history, this spell was a “Divine Gift” and got them interested into stretching the bounds of known magic. Cheap to use and immensely useful, it was perfect for a barely beginning magical family. The way it works needs to be examined more closely, but the effect is basically thus: It nullifies all damage to the body so long as it is activated and anything with the potential to damage him merely phases through his body. The catch is the pain remains, and the person has to be conscious to maintain it. Interestingly, pain from anything seems to be doubled so long as the spell is in effect, leaving some of his family to conclude it turns the “cause” into an extra “effect”, although the theory was disregarded as why would something dangerously close to true magic be so cheap to use? The pain can however quickly overwhelm most people and send them into unconsciousness, although Adam seems very good at maintaining it and could probably keep going even through an A ranked Magus spell, although results may vary depending on how much the spell “hurts”. Indeed, his own “Mind Numbing Pain” spell is probably the best counter towards it. The spell is also good at intimidating opponents, after all, seeing someone go through a high-level spell with a smile as Adam oh so commonly does tends to freak people out.
PLAYER'S NAME:// WithdrawnVessel
FACE CLAIM:// Nicholas Wolfwood from Trigun
OTHER CHARACTERS:// None as of yet (considering a Rider Servant Guan Yu)
MISC. INFORMATION: The equipment he brought wasn't originally intended for the war. The mask was so he could go places without being recognized by his fans, and the stone was in case he went up a mountain and was too bored to go down. Also, his "elements" can be considered pain and gravity (well, more of a prana manipulator, but oh well) for a bad pun in the making.
