- Crazy Prepared
- Luciano keeps five concealed weapons on his person, never takes the same route home, has his workshop wired to self-destruct to prevent the family research from being taken out of it, constantly alters his schedule, always has a background check on anybody he meets, whether they approach him first, or if he initiates the meeting, has his sister guarded by a magus killer-slash-Bratva-hitman with eleven years of Spetsnaz experience, keeps his most important and incriminating documents in a self-destructing safe, changes the 27-digit password to his computer at every opportunity, has his car checked for bombs of every kind of detonation system, sleeps with a high-caliber pistol under his pillow, performs his Mafia activities under the persona of his dead big brother who still supposedly lives overseas (Don Gregorio), built a fallout shelter in his back yard, has three layers of alerts to verify if somebody has entered his room with one serving as a decoy, keeps majority of his family's local fortune in multiple safety deposit boxes under different names in separate banks, and the overseas fortune in multiple Swiss Bank Accounts under different aliases and different banks.
Yes, that was a long list of things he does 'just in case'. Oh, and he also keeps high-grip tires in his trunk even in the middle of a drought, just in case it rains. Suffice to say, that list is non-exhaustive, but tells you how Luciano has an OCD about preparing for things that probably won't even happen.

- Debonair
- Suave, charming, sophisticated, and always well-dressed. That is the universal image of Luciano Mezzanotte, heir to La Corporazione Agata and star senior at Instituto Privato di Nostra Signora Flora. Thanks to his upbringing, this young Don can be considered a gentleman in the making, always being the most courteous, kind, and non-confrontational of all. Using reason over force to solve disputes... It's this charm and gallantry, combined with his intellect and poise, that makes him so popular with the girls.
Which is why, many of the rich and/or smart girls are extremely jealous of his girlfriend, Ilaria Mazzei, who is remarkable for being, well, ordinary. Why the dashing, Mr. Perfect Luciano Mezzanotte would choose such an... ordinary girl above all the others is entirely unknown to anybody, except perhaps Luciano himself.

- Knight Templar Big Brother
- Perhaps the number one unwritten rule for the Associates and Soldati of the Mezzanotte clan: Enrica Mezzanotte is absolutely off limits. This includes hurting her physically, mentally, and emotionally, hitting on her, doing something that even looks like hitting on her, looking at her the wrong way, and naturally, talking about her the wrong way. Why? Just ask Bernardo "Pedobear" Paolini, who tried to hit on her a few years ago. The man disappeared soon afterward, and was eventually found in a storm drain, disemboweled and horribly mutilated. Not long after that, body parts of his immediate family were found scattered in dumpsters all over the shopping district.
Though the police suspected this to be the first attack against the Mezzanotte Cosca in some sort of Mafia War, those within the organization knew much better. Don Gregorio was not kidding when he told them not to do it, and Paolini was a fine example of what would happen should you foolishly choose to violate it.

- Manipulative Bastard
- It seems to be in the blood, the fact that every single head of the family since the first generation has been at heart, a manipulator of people. Whether relatives, other magi, partners in crime, or complete strangers, this personality trait might as well be their second forte, next to Prana-manipulation magecraft. Luciano is no exception. Each breath is littered with deception and guile, words which even when honest, are only used to gain a person's trust or put him in a situation most advantageous for Luciano's plans.
In this, you can say that he has no true friends, and that he only truly cares for his sister, Enrica. This does not mean, however, that pawns are disposable. While he cares not for the welfare of people working for him, he never underestimates the strategic value of a person, and by virtue of merit has managed to build up a rapport with those who achieve. Without realizing it, believing that he actually gives a rap about them, their faith is reassured in the sense that though he isn't a real friend, they aren't expendable as long as they have a purpose. Having been raised in with a scarcity mentality, this could be considered the conservation of resources. As such, you can say that this is more a practical measure than a 'redeeming' quality.

STRENGTHS: //
When discussing heirs to the Mezzanotte bloodline, Luciano can be considered an ideal choice, being born with the better quality of circuits available to the family. A magus with excellent potential. Nevertheless, he is of the belief that his greatest strength is his mind. Luciano has a naturally superior intellect that has made him a top student at school, and an expert manipulator, which this family considers to be almost as important as the quality and number of magic circuits in a child.
Combined with his suave, dashing, gentlemanly stature, it creates a very positive image for an otherwise extremely devious person. A Mister Perfect who might as well be a saint. Of course, the more cynical people might correctly catch on to the fact that this is a facade, in which case Luciano will make sure to do everything in his power to convince them, and make it look like they convinced themselves.
He has a great deal of self-control, perhaps brought about by his rationality. Luciano is known to prefer to talk his way out of trouble, rather than fight it out. At least at school, where he stands up for students who get bullied, a usual sight in an institute where there is a clear line between the rich regulars, poor scholars, and culturally different foreigners. Outside school, he constantly plots the downfall of competition in cunning, indirect ways that would in no way implicate him.
Luciano always considers every factor that can be thought of before making a move, and plans three steps ahead. Over the years, he has grown fond of playing clever mind and people games to hone his manipulative abilities. If things don't go as planned (backup plan or otherwise), he is flexible enough to roll with the punches and come out on top with an exploitation of the new circumstances.
WEAKNESSES: //
Luciano has no true friends, and only really cares about his sister, Enrica. At his level of emotional attachment, even seeing her in any form of distress is enough to disturb his normally cool and collected thinking. Put her in worse circumstances, and he will most likely start to lose his rational thinking. If Luciano's mind was a carefully constructed and meticulously woven knot, then Enrica is that stray thread that when pulled, will completely unravel it. Every other problem snowballs from there.
Being fully aware of this fact, Luciano places her under protection that is extensive, but inconspicuous. After all, making the security visible only makes the value of what is being protected all the more obvious. His way of thinking has become so used to being roundabout and circuitous that he now has a dislike for using straightforward approaches.

MY FAMILY LINE: //
Mezzanotte is a 10-generation bloodline that goes back some 800 years, and is known for their preference to maintain low profiles despite being on the upper rung of Lords. Though they are by all means a strong and talented lineage, they aren't known to many people outside of those closely affiliated with Clock Tower's aristocracy. The most the average magus will ever know about them is "the family that supervises Lucca". Thus far, they have gone through a multitude of circuitous manipulations to remain in the shadows, such as brokering arrangements with other Lords within their faction. After all, as any smart person will attest, the best profile is a low profile. Luciano's father, Don Osvaldo, despite having many far better options, settled for the position of Eulyphis Vice Director around the time of HF 5.
Due to being rooted in Lucca, the best Spiritual Land in Italy, the Association had granted them administration of the city. The Mezzanotte family has additionally been involved in multiple rings of organized crime, from the Neapolitan Camorra, to the Sicilian Cosa Nostra. Due to its one-heir policy, many younger children were sent abroad over the centuries to see their own fortunes. Several of them started cadet branch families that had either become very successful, or assimilated into more successful families of organized crime. Examples of such are the Gabrielli's in the US Mafia, the Ryuzaki Yakuza clan in Japan, and the Vizcarra Cartel in Colombia. Having been effectively exiled from the Mezzanotte household, they see no obligation to the parent family, but have nevertheless established amicable relationships with it.
Mezzanotte primarily uses its ill-gotten wealth to fund research, however, it sets aside a particular budget dedicated to 'income expansion', to ensure financial growth that would allow it to generate even bigger grants. One such financial investment is La Corporazione Agata, a 12.2 billion-Euro office supply manufacturer and international distributor, and the family's biggest front company. Its corporate headquarters is a skyscraper that stands near the center of Torre Alta, Lucca's business district, which is the site of a strong leyline in the city. The Mezzanotte Estate is also logically built upon a strong leyline. A portion of the profits gained from this company is, along with profits from their less-than-legitimate businesses, channeled into defense and security purchases incorporating some of the latest fielded weapons today. La Corporazione Agata itself, however, does not benefit largely from these deals.
Mezzanotte's Sorcery Trait is a set of Mystic Eyes ranking Silver on the Noble Colors scale. Known as Drucilla, it allows the user to issue an order of absolute obedience to a target through direct eye contact. This is similar in effect to the Gold-ranked Mystic Eyes of Enchantment, and can be seen as a lesser variation of it, as it can only be used on a target once. Hence, why its functional name is "Mystic Eyes of Single Command". Preventive measures include using a mirror or video camera to look at the user (anything that prevents direct eye contact), and formidable levels of Prana resistance.
As with the family's affinity to Water, they specialize in manipulating the flow of Prana. They have, however, sacrificed any potential to Thaumaturgically manipulate actual liquids in exchange for unparalleled mastery in controlling Prana flow. To this end, they have developed several spells aimed at nipping enemy magi in the bud, by disrupting the Prana flowing through their magic circuits and thus preventing them from casting spells, as well as other spells built around the idea of preventing spells from being cast. This expertise has also made it possible to tweak the summoning ritual, by rendering the Prana supply of the Servant flexible. As a result of this, however, they have no direct attack spells and thus rely on guile, trickery, and conventional weapons to kill their enemies once the latter's spell-casting abilities have been neutralized.
The Mezzanotte bloodline is known for relatively high quality circuits that go hand in hand with reasonably high numbers. Though nowhere near the Aozaki or Barthomeloi in terms of capacity, the formidable stature of these circuits allows the average heir four, with the more fortunate heirs up to five times, the average Prana output. In straight figures, their quantity ranges around 30-35 or so, give or take a few extra circuits every now and then, and the quality is between 14-16 PrC.
MY HISTORY: //
The second child among three siblings, with older brother Gregorio and younger sister Enrica, Luciano did not expect much in his life. After all, he knew that it was going to be his older brother who was going to inherit the family crest and go on to be the next head of the clan. But he hated the fact that he was deprived the privilege of becoming a magus just because he was born second. This same hatred led him to begin scheming against his brother, who had already begun to learn the arts and was already scheduled to begin receiving the crest in transplants.
He secretly began studying on his own, sneaking books from the family library and having them photocopied, coming up with contrivances to get this fact past the familiar that was stationed there, etc. as well as the second hidden familiar sentry. Nevertheless, Luciano had no idea that he was being watched by a third familiar positioned in an even more obscure location; at least, not until he decided to perform a thorough search of the workshop.
Nevertheless, his father, Don Osvaldo, continued to pretend that he was unaware of the incidents, causing the second child to develop a degree of paranoia. The end result was more carefully-planned and executed plots over the next few weeks leading to a final confrontation of sorts at Gregorio's supposed first transplant surgery. It was there that Don Osvaldo revealed the truth to Luciano, that he was the true heir ever since the analysis of his circuit quality showed it to be superior to his older brother.
Don Osvaldo merely wanted him to learn the basics of the family craft through first-hand experience. With a gusto one could only expect from a proud Lord, father congratulated son on his accomplishment in the tasks given. And just as quickly, thanked the eldest son for his participation. As with the family's one-heir policy, Gregorio was sent off to America, to find his own fortune, or perhaps seek refuge with his distant relatives, the Gabrielli's. They didn't hear from him in eight years.
When Gregorio surfaced again in 2022, mere days after Don Osvaldo's agreement with Jubstacheit about setting the War in Lucca, he was greeted with rejoicing by everybody. Luciano, of course, was quite happy for a different reason. His career as Underboss had begun. The matter of the fact was, Gregorio had died abroad in a car accident those many years ago, and both father and son needed a means of cover. As such, for eight years, Don Osvaldo improved his son's skills at the art of manipulation, until that day of a final test.
Luciano had to pass off as Gregorio, which he did. And Don Osvaldo was pleased. Soon, 'Gregorio' became Don Osvaldo's overseas Underboss, providing advice and assistance from the comfort of his 'luxurious New York Penthouse'. The rest of the Mezzanotte Cosca, was not as pleased as the father and son. If this was really the next heir, why did he spend all of his time abroad? And so it came to pass that on a cold winter night in 2023, Don Osvaldo was murdered by his Consigliere, Elia Jacaruso, as bait to get Underboss Gregorio to fly home, so they could kill him too and take over the family business.
And so he did. With a little cosmetics, props, and the like, Luciano once again passed off as Gregorio, who, as the rightful heir, brought swift poetic justice by executing Jacaruso and establishing that, yes, he was now the boss. Anybody who didn't like the idea, was free to leave, but only after brief, individual interviews of why they wanted to. Luciano took this opportunity to embed subliminal orders into their minds, to be activated the next time he contacted them.
Thus, began the boss-ship of Don Gregorio Mezzanotte, who once again, went back abroad, but would check in every now and then, just to keep the other members satiated. In the meantime, Luciano continued his studies in academics and thaumaturgy, as well as preparing for the Holy Grail War, for which he had been chosen. Careful planning had to be put into the operation, to ensure that things would go well.
One such preparation had been started by his father, Don Osvaldo, an edutainment program that would level the playing field of localized fame. The most logical approach to the War would be the elimination of the enemy Masters. To make this easier, he also made preparations. Luciano dealt with all of this, taking into account every possible known factor, and preparing as best he could for the known unknown factors. What if the enemy summoned a truly powerful Servant? What if the enemy was from an overwhelmingly powerful bloodline? What if the enemy wasn't your average garden variety technophobic magus?
Finally, as the time drew near, Luciano contacted an associate, the boss of a close Russian Mafiya family, Sergei Cherstvennikov. At 200 years, the Cherstvennikov bloodline was young, and no doubt would go to quite a few means to achieve rapid superiority. To people like them, the ultimate reward would be none other than a crest that the Mezzanotte had just recently stolen from a rival family. The objective? Get somebody to fight the war for him.
This also played on the fact that yes, Sergei Cherstvennikov was a very ambitious man. It was no surprise then, that the Grail chose him once he learned of the War and displayed an incredible desire for the things it could give him. In the meantime, Luciano also produced a second piece for his game, hiring a freelancer to serve as a surrogate Master for the Servant he summoned, thanks to the Ritual he used to alter the connection.
By immediately controlling two pieces to the puzzle, and preparing contingencies in the event that they attempt to backstab him, Luciano has increased his chances of winning the War. And by hiding his identity behind the mask of Don Gregorio, as well as concealing his Mastership, he intends to remain safely in the shadows and fight the Holy Grail War, with emphasis on the 'War' part. With strategies, tactics, and gambits that equate this to a game of chess or shogi.
MY GOALS: // The Don is in this war for the simple fact that it's happening in his territory. As such, he believes that the Grail is ultimately his property as Supervisor. He hasn't exactly decided on what to wish for, yet. That is to say, if he even plans on making a wish.

Mezzanotte Crime Syndicate
The Mezzanotte are accused of being cowards by those who know them, for their unorthodox focus on prana manipulation. Indeed, by focusing solely on Prana Manipulation, they have deprived themselves of any direct attack spells, and thus rely on more mundane methods to kill their enemies. Like minions with guns.
Luciano has control over this organization as its Don, giving him access to money, manpower, and firepower. He has assembled a team of several of the Syndicate's best associates to serve as his eyes, shield, and sword, in the Sixth Heaven's Feel. With the exceptions of Evgeniya Konstantinova, a Magus Killer, and a second Magus hired to serve as a 'substitute Master', all of his men have been informed that the other known Masters are undercover INTERPOL agents, or former associates with relationships gone bad. For this task, he has made an investment of a billion Euros into state of the art equipment for use during the war period. His accountant is crying over the big number.
Beretta 90two
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beretta_90two
A later version of the venerable Beretta 92 Series of semi-automatic pistols, released in 2006. Luciano makes use of the .40 S&W version, with a 12-round clip capacity. Most notably, he uses it to kneecap or pistol-whip people who prove to be uncooperative. Not that he actually does the kneecapping or pistol-whipping, of course. That's what henchmen are for. As a 'standard' weapon, it is not concealable, and thus, is left out whenever he goes to places like school.
Beretta 3032 Tomcat Inox
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beretta_3032_Tomcat
A pocket pistol designed almost half a century ago, the Tomcat is one of a reliable series of Beretta's Mini Pistols; compact and easy to handle. The Tomcat chambers up to 7 .32 caliber ACP rounds, and the Inox variant has the barrel, slide, and frame anodized to look the same. Of the 1500 titanium models produced, Luciano owns two of them. He keeps one up his left sleeve on a retractable holster, and the second in an ankle holster. The left, because he is allegedly right handed, when he is in fact, ambidextrous.
Belt Buckle Gun
www.neatorama.com/2009/12/08/belt-buckle-gun/
The only production model ever manufactured, this belt buckle gun was taken from the collection of the person who was the Governor of the American state of Alabama in the 1950's. It was purchased in 2015 by Don Osvaldo and modified to remove any indication that it was originally of Nazi origin. It holds four bullets, and contains an unusual trigger design, as the belt buckle itself is the gun, rather than a container for one. The most concealed of Luciano's weapons, it is a tool of last resort to be used in the event that his less concealed weapons are disposed of.
Sole Knife
A retractable 5-inch stiletto blade hidden in the sole of his right shoe. It is activated by pressing a trigger button hidden in the heel of his shoe, which can be done by applying a slight amount of pressure to the heel, which will cause the blade to spring out of the front. From that point on, it makes for a pretty nasty kick. Another weapon of last resort, though Luciano has yet to use it in real life, he is well-practiced in its use.
RANK: // Silver
ELEMENT: // Water
EXPERTISE: //
Honor Student - Luciano has the brains to complement his looks, ensuring that he's not just another pretty face. He stands at the top of his class, and is on the way to being school Valedictorian. Naturally, he uses his superior intellect in other things, aside from school.
Prana Flow Magecraft - The Mezzanotte family's specialization, the ability to manipulate the flows of Prana, such as in altering supply lines from a Master to a Servant, and disruption of magic circuits in enemies to prevent spells from being cast. There are, however, other tricks that can be played with this specialty. As a result of this specialization, they are incapable of casting direct attack spells and use regular weapons to kill instead.
Chessmaster - With Great Intelligence comes Great uses for it. Sometimes. If there's one thing Luciano has learned from his family outside magecraft that's of any use, it's reading people and circumstances, and playing them like pieces on a chess board. Whether in legitimate business, Mafia dealings, or politics between magus bloodlines, it's second nature for him to think three to five steps ahead and prepare plans accordingly for the known knowns, known unkowns, and unknown knowns.
He can think up the right words, make the right excuses, and play the right cards when he has to. Having the money to create the conditions ideal for victory is very useful as well. Luciano keeps backup plans for his backup plans, and contingencies for the most ludicrous possibilities, like keeping high-grip tires on his car even during a drought just in case it rains. In the event that something happens completely out of plan, he is capable of adapting and steering it back in the right direction, or if not, steer it onto a path that is at least more desirable than the one it was derailed into.
MAGIC CIRCUITS: //
Luciano has 32 Magic Circuits and 16 PrC, giving him a maximum capacity of 512 Pr.
SPELLS: //
Drucilla
"Could you do me a favor, and go jump off a building? I already thought ahead and had somebody forge a suicide letter in your handwriting, after all."
Rank: Silver
Cost: 20-35 Pr
Range: 15m
Effects:
Mystic Eyes of Single Command. A high-level Mental Interference spell closely related to a vampire's Mystic Eyes of Enchantment, Drucilla buries a single command into the target's brain using Prana. The more specific the command, the more Prana is used in the activation. Direct eye contact is necessary for the spell to take effect. Viewing the caster's eyes through eye-wear such as goggles or glasses do not count, unlike using a mirror or camera.
Much like a command spell, issuing a long-term or vague command such as "do everything I say", "carve an X onto this wall everyday", or "kill every human on the planet" bears no weight whatsoever. This also applies to orders that cannot be physically accomplished by the target, such as saying "get up and heal yourself this instant" to a severely injured ordinary human, or saying "go to Japan" to a person who is imprisoned in France.
Generally, the eyes activate after the command is given, just like a command spell. It is possible to look away while the command is being issued and avoid contact, so long as the eyes have not yet activated. Otherwise, the effects will be as follows:
A good magic-user will remain unaffected from this spell.
People with very high resistance or less-than-average magi will feel a strong subconscious urge to perform as ordered but will nevertheless be capable of resisting it, depending on their willpower. Self-preservation instinct remains intact and suicide orders are ignored.
People with high resistance or a complete newbie magus will feel an overwhelming subconscious urge to perform as ordered, however, there is a chance to break free, if enough Prana is actively run through the circuits. Self-preservation instinct remains, but will be susceptible to revocation if willpower is not sufficient.
Most people, that is non-magi will unquestioningly obey the command, even if ordered to commit suicide, as self-preservation instinct is completely overridden.
Since it is fundamental knowledge that a magus can detect if there is foreign prana invading his/her circuit and is trying to modify something, that said magus can attempt to eradicate it. So does the effect of Drucilla. It will not work on most magi that knows how to protect themselves from mind manipulating magic. Only an amateur magus who can't even grasp the basic of the basic of prana flow, or a lousy magus, will fall prey to this ability. With this info in mind, we can assume that most non-magi people would become its target, since they don't have any means to protect themselves from Sorcery.
These Mystic Eyes can only be used once on a certain person. Afterward, the target will be immune to the effects of Drucilla. This Sorcery Trait is the Mezzanotte family's best-kept secret, and is responsible for much of their success in the criminal underworld. Don Alfredo, Luciano's great grandfather, was Sealed when it was discovered late in his life that his inborn eyes had mutated entirely into Mystic Eyes of Enchantment.
Circuit Breaker (Interruttore), (Water, Prana)
Rank: E
Cost: 12 Pr
Range: 15m
Effects:
With overall the same effect and purpose as Counter Magic, fires a curse bolt that interrupts the flow of Od through a target's magic circuits, preventing Prana conversion from happening. This curse is good for the interruption of one spell. It is fired from the index finger, much like Gandr/Fin.
The effect of this curse is non-cumulative. Multiple hits will not stack effects on each other. Once a person is struck, only one spell will be interruptible, even if he is hit several times. When in place, the curse will only activate once the target attempts to cast a spell. It does not affect Prana Resistance. As its aim is prevention and not cure, this spell is meaningless against one that has already been cast.
One of the oldest spells in the Mezzanotte arsenal, it was originally a one-liner that has stabilized into a Single-action spell in their Crest. As to their pre-emptive policies of nipping any prospective threats in the bud, they developed their spell line as a form of Counter-Magic, leaving targets vulnerable at least long enough for them to use other means to kill them, like knives and guns.
Redundant Impediment (Impedimento Superfluo) (Water, Prana)
Rank: D
Cost: 28-42 Pr
Range: 25m
Effects:
A more advanced variation of the Circuit Breaker spell, altered and redesigned to provide a stacking effect. Fires two to three (2-3) curse bolts in rapid succession, with overall the same effect as the Circuit Breaker. The difference is that the Magic Circuit interruptions are cumulative. Each hit equates to the cancellation of one spell.
Nevertheless, only a maximum of three spells may be interrupted at any given time. The curse does not stack with Circuit Breaker, nor with multiple castings of itself. As such, casting this spell on a person afflicted with either Circuit Breaker or Redundant Impediment will be a waste of Prana. This applies even if a person was only hit by one or two bolts. In every case, the curse will only be able to take effect again once the previous casting has dissipated.
Again, the function of the spell is to disrupt the casting of a spell, and thus, does not affect Prana Resistance. Has no effects on spells that have already been cast.
One of the older spells in the Mezzanotte arsenal, it is a four-liner spell that has stabilized into a one-liner in their Crest.
Void Cube (Water, Prana)
Rank: B
Cost: 40 Pr
Range: 50m
Effects:
Decongestant of the Greater Source. A nefarious spell designed to produce a "null area", where no Mana is available for the casting of expensive spells that will be disastrous if using Od alone. It does this by taking hold of the Mana in a specific zone, up to a maximum size of 27 million cubic meters (300x300x300m), and pushing it out of that space and into the surrounding areas. The result is the eponymous Void Cube, a cubic space where a person is stuck with only his or her own Od to cast spells. Some of the Mana in the space that will become the Void Cube will also be burned up for the spell, thus making it relatively cheap despite its Rank.
Highly effective as a trap against magi with weaker bloodlines, who rely mostly on Mana. Nevertheless, it also does well against other, more established magi, since you never know when a person might want to use a big bang spell that exceeds their own Od capacity. In a sense, it can be considered a kind of boundary field due to its design in affecting an area, though technically, as it has no actual set boundary line, is really more of a type of spatial magecraft. That, and the fact that it does not have any active effects once you step inside it, since the only effect occurs during its creation.
Proof that it is not a boundary field is the fact that once it is completed, much like a meteor punching a crater into the ocean, the Mana will start leaking back into the Cube from surrounding areas after 12 hours. At that present rate, with the exception of the Mana that was spent in the casting, a space will have completely recovered from the Void Cube in 72 hours. After all, the Mana is not being used, only displaced.
A lesser derivative of the boundary field spell Thief Cube, which aside from draining an area of Mana, also sucks out the Od of whoever steps into it (except the caster and people he chooses, of course) at a rate of 10 Pr per second and ejects it outside of the boundary field. Alternatively, it instead sends the Mana into "Mana pockets" within itself that require a supply, such as a Workshop or Temple, thus maximizing the leylines that flow through the buildings it protects. However, it only steals Od and not life force, which are two different if somewhat similar things. As such, normal people will not be affected. Neither will natural phenomena such as Servants, who are beings composed of Mana.
Void Cube is an old spell that has reached some nice stabilization in the Mezzanotte Crest, from its original 10 lines to 6 lines. As stated earlier, its original purpose is that of a trap (no, not that kind). Thief Cube, by the way, is the boundary field that protects the Mezzanotte mansion, as well as La Corporazione Agata's headquarters building in Torre Alta, and Enrica's flower shop at the aquatic gardens in Monte San Quirico.
Surrogate Provider (Water, Prana)
Rank: A
Cost: 300
Range: -
Effects:
Essentially a Greater Ritual developed as a modification to the summoning of a Servant. Its ultimate goal is, in line with the Mezzanotte family policy of being sneaky, concealing their Servant's true Master by transferring the Prana source to a "substitute Master".
This Greater Ritual was first enacted to intersect with the summoning ritual. As such, the Caster-class Servant was summoned with technically two Masters, one with the command spells, and the other with the Prana supply.
In the event of an emergency, such as one caused by the Servant's lowered stats due to the substitute Master's lower Prana level, it is possible to perform the Ritual once, likely in order to transfer the supply line to the true Master, that is, Luciano.
As the Ritual is not stable, being a recent development only a few years old, any attempts to perform it beyond the designated two times will lead to the dissolution of the supply line entirely. This will leave the Servant without a power source and force her to search for a new one. In effect, its present state is that of a one-time use.
The incantation is six verses long, and requires various sacrifices and other proceedings typical of a Greater Ritual. As such, it is preferably conducted in a workshop, or highly secure location, far away from any enemy.
